(ThyBlackMan.com) The Mi Band 2 was a massive hit and Xiaomi Mi Band 3 won’t be an exception, with the features it offers. The device was officially announced for the Chinese market but Xiaomi didn’t say anything about the worldwide launch. The Mi Band 2 was made available globally after being in China for some time. Eventually, the Mi Band 3 will also come to the UK, US, and Australia.

If you have used a Mi Band before, you will notice that it fits the same way on the wrist and looks very similar to the Mi Band 2. The display is in vertical shape and thin, so you won’t get the feeling of wearing a smartwatch on your wrist. With that said, the display is also not too big and fits well on the front of the wrist. For those with big wrists, the tracker won’t even cover the full front of the strap.

Those who aren’t sure about the watch’s fitting, the exact dimensions of the Xiaomi Mi Band   3 are 17.9 x 46.9 x 12mm, and the weight is only 20 grams. The OLED display is 0.78-inch and it supports 128 x 80 resolution. Colorful straps are also available for the tracker and it’s so easy to use them. You can take the tracker out with a gentle push and put it in another band.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is waterproof and you can take it up to 50 meters under the water. Not all the fitness trackers and smartwatches come with this ability, but Xiaomi has once again proved that such features can be made available on low-cost devices as well. This capability allows users to take the Mi Band 3 in the shower and to swimming pool as well.

Xiaomi’s fitness trackers are known for their long-lasting battery power. For the Mi Band 3, Xiaomi claims 20 days of battery life after a full charge. The device includes a 110mAh battery, and it looks capable of justifying the company’s claims. The Mi Band 3 comes in two variants. There’s a slight difference in their pricing. The standard variant doesn’t support contactless payments and the other one supports NFC chip to enable this functionality.

When Xiaomi says affordable, they mean it. The new fitness tracker is not available in the other parts of the world so we can only assume its pricing for the other markets. In China, the standard variant costs 169 Yuan ($26) and the NFC variant costs 199 Yuan ($31).

The Mi Fit 3 is not just a fitness and activity tracker, it also comes packed with some smartwatch features such as calling, messaging, and notifications. But first, have a look at the activity and fitness tracking features Mi band 3 offers.

It comes with a heart rate sensor on board that monitors your heartbeats per minute and also keeps track of changes. Xiaomi has improved pedometer on Mi Band 3 which means you will be able to track your steps with more accuracy. The band also offers real-time data such as workout duration, and distance covered. Through the mobile app, users will also be able to set fitness goals and the device will motivate them with gentle reminders.

There’s only one thing about the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 that disappoints – no GPS connectivity. The device tracks your activities such as running, walking and cycling, but lack of GPS means you cannot expect 100 percent accuracy in distance measurement. The device doesn’t track your location.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 supports Bluetooth 4.2 technology. It means that you can connect the device with Android phones using Android 4.4 and above. The device can also be paired with Apple devices running iOS 9 and above. Currently, we don’t know when the new Mi Band will be available in the US and other regions, but we hope that Xiaomi will bring the fitness tracker to its global audience sometime later this year.
