(ThyBlackMan.com) As it has been presented, the Obama Administration has indicated that he is ready for serious gun reform. He has pledged to put his “full weight” behind a legislative package for containing gun violence offered by Senator Dianne Feinstein. The bill aims to “stop the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of military-style assault weapons and high capacity ammunition feeding devises.” It will ban 120 specifically named weapons, including handguns and shotguns, and strengthen the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, which expired in 2004.
Now I am against violence of any form, but I don’t see why an assault rifle should be the focus of his political venom- guns do not kill people, people do. To focus on the tool misses the problem.
I have owned several SKS since 1990. If you don’t know what an SKS, see the image in this post of me on the book cover of my last book. No it is not a prop is is real and one of several. I like it because it fires the 7.62 x 39 (AK47/SKS) slug. Now for most this is an assult rifle, for me it’s just a rifle.
Some ask why I want or need an assault rifle like an SKS? My answer is based on two things: the second amendment and prospects of Tyranny. The second amendment says “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (keyword being regulated not maintained). There was no standing militia in the colonies. In fact they did not get together until 1774 (the Coercive Acts) when the British implemented gun control measures via an import ban on firearms and gunpowder;” the 1774-75 confiscations of firearms and gunpowder; and the use of violence to effectuate the confiscations. History is complete with examples of gun control and the results. Whether in Turkey where in 1911 when1 .5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were exterminated between 1915 and 1917, or even in modern times when in 1964, Guatemala established gun control allowing the government to kill 100,000 Mayan Indians between – From 1964 to 1981. I won’t even mention Nazi Germany, who killed 13 million weaponless Jews, gypsies, and homosexuals after established gun control in 1938.
The aforementioned represents Tyranny which refers to the arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power and/or the despotic abuse of authority or oppressive or unjustly severe government on the part of any ruler. Fact is, according to the FBI homicide data, hammers, clubs and knives are responsible for more homicides than rifles In fact; the FBI concluded that rifles of all types are the least-used guns when crimes are committed. Not to mention that most firearm murders (about11,400), are gang related, how many would you guess had legally purchased or registered weapons?
Now many would suggest that tyranny on behalf of the US government with it’s first black President is outrageous: maybe or maybe not but looking at the facts sughgest that anything is possible. Take the National Weather Service, who like the Department of Homeland Security in securing large quantities of ammo. Back in March,Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage. The NWS ordered 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets and I don’t think they are for predicting tornadoes. Then there was the solicitation posted by the the Social Security Administration for for contractors to supply 174,000 rounds of “.357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition.”
The point is technology, if there is tyranny, then what good is a handgun against weaponized drones, Tanks and body armor? None. But I can rest assured that the 7.62 of the SKS can go through all and that makes me comfortable for I have 99 problems – owning an assault rifle isn’t one of them. For the fact of the matter is, when only the military and police have guns, it is called a police state.
I liked the article, and the guy that wrote it. I will look for the book and may buy it. I also own an SKS, and an AK47. I just purchassed a couple thousand rounds of 7.62 x 39 ammo, and I have a 75 round drum. My favorite AK is my milled MAK90. THis was imported after the AW ban. I have put a bunch of US made parts on it to make it legal to modify with a colapsing stock, and other stuff. I’m glad the military tought me in my hitches how to be a great soldier, and survive when the SHTF. If you want to prepare and survive what ever happens, het healthy mentally and physically, and prepare for the unexpected. Educate yourself, stock up on survival food and have a plan to survive, stay warm and get water and wait it out for an extended time. Don’t rely on the grid, or others, and if it gets bad don’t go into the FEMA camps. It’s ultimately up to the individual to have the ability, knowledge, and will to survive. The government is becoming your biggest enemy. Don’t drink floridated water, it causes you to be submissive and obediant. It prevents you from thinking independantly. It takes over a year to cleanse it from your body. Forget about the stock market, spend your money on real things you may need soon. Get a good reliable vehicle and get a cabin in the woods in a depressed part of the country away from the big cities, south east facing, a well, and stock up. Good luck my fellow Americans.

Torrence,
“well regulated militia” – Isn’t that definition up to the oppressed? I don’t think the British would’ve considered the colonists as a regulated militia to THEIR standard. So why is it that we let ANTI-2nd amendment folks try to make mockery of this statement.
It’s up to the people (the oppressed) to decide what’s well regulated not the government. Obviously if you are defending yourself as civilians a government will try to lable you as illegitimate. IMO the govt is trying to keep a monopoloy on legal/necessary violence to protect oneself. Our own gov’t sends weapons to “Rebels” (jihadists) to defend themselves against tyrranny of Assad, Hussein and Qaddafi. So obviously, those folks lose their own argument by their actions.
Technology – i agree and disagree with you. Many Americans are armed and it takes somebody to operate the technology. Although there is obvious evidence of rogue elements in the Services, I think that MOST service men and police etc would defend freedom and the constitution – not the police state.

“Barack Obama” ain’t taking my gun. If he tries to take my Baretta he’s got a problem”. Boy you can’t make this stuff up. And now his old looking behind is the main one framing the gun control debate.
Part III
Obama campaigning in 2007. 00:00:50 did he say what I think he did. Sounded like a Fast and Furious hint. He says he doesn’t want my semi-automatic weapon which equals all-non automatic weapons – handguns, rifles…scary looking ones, traditional looking ones.

Part II
Hypocracy – Notice those pushing for gun control are the the biggest war mongerers out there. Lieberman, Feinstein (SHE DOESN’T MIND SENDING THE WEAPONS TO LIBYA AND SYRIA THOUGH) Schumer, etc. How many of them have no problem signing appropiations for supporting the FRee Syrian Army (jihadists)and supporting gun running operations? But now they’re getting righteous!
Automatic Weapons – which ARE weapons of war…. In most states you can’t get one unless you have a specialized license (gun / weapons dealors or you are a government purchaser or organized crime LOL) and they’re incredibly expensive b/c of the black market values etc. Weapons of war are hardly accessible!!!! But then you’re talking about banning handguns not nicely painted black semi auto rifles. Are the over zealous law makers going to make everyone turn in their handguns which is the American weapon of choice for the law abiding citizens? Or deal with the true issues of gun violence, it’s sources, real answers etc.
1) All weapons are assault weapons…so the term ASSAULT WEAPON is just a scare tactic
2) Semi-Automatic weapons = squeeze once —> one bullet fly out
3) Automatic weapons = squeeze once —-> many bullets fly out
4) Most Homocides with firearms – are with hand guns NOT SEMIAUTO RIFLES
5) Most Gun Incidents – occur in inner cities, heavily populated areas (not the surbaban mall or surbaban school in rich area of Connecticut)
6) Just because it’s painted black – doesn’t mean anything. a semi automatic rifle is a semi automatic rifle. paint it pink, black, brown, it doesn’t matter…it’s not a machine gun functionally
7) Per capita violent gun crimes in the US < UK although they have total ban on guns and we have way more guns here in the states
8) High capacity magazines – well what if I get a 5 gun holster with 9 bullet magazines on it. then are they gonna ban holsters too?
9) Protection against tyranny – DHS and NOPD weapons confiscation in New Orleans during Katrina while citizens were unprotected, Japanese were FEMAd during WWII here in Seattle, black panthers protecting citizens from tyranny in various US cities, post abolition era was the first gun confiscation carried out against blacks in the US
10) Exploitation of Sandy Hook children – this wasn't an issue until kids were killed. Well what about Atlanta, Dade Co., Cook Co IL, Detroit, LA, Bay Area? It took some kids from the suburbs to be killed for anyone to pay attention about gun violence.
11) How much of the gun violence in the states could be settled by legalizing drugs like weed as a start?
