(ThyBlackMan.com) Borderlands Remaster and Borderlands 3 are making headlines once again. The Korean Game Rating Board has rated Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you remember, the CEO of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford once said that the studio will consider the remastered version of Borderlands if the Handsome Collection sells well. If you don’t know what Handsome Collection is, it is a compilation of Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel for the Xbox One and PS4.

The Publisher Take-Two has not announced the remastered version of the original Borderlands game. We believe that the announcement will take place alongside the Borderlands 3 reveal. The studio has not yet revealed anything about the Borderlands 3 release. But the game developers have been talking about it for quite a few years.

In 2012, Gearbox released Borderlands 2. It was the last entry from the studio in the Borderlands game series. After this game, 2K Australia developed the Pre-Sequel, and then in 2015, TellTale Games introduced a spin-off Tales From Borderlands. Publisher 2K told fans that the game is being designed especially for the next generation of consoles (PS4 and Xbox One that time). The Gearbox studio also started recruitment for a new Borderlands game and Pitchford said it’s happening for the “big” game.

In 2017, Pitchford introduced a new technology using Unreal Engine 4 at Game Developers Conference. Gearbox showed off the technology that powers the next game coming from the studio. The studio made it clear that they weren’t showing gameplay video, but the tech demo resembled the Borderlands art style. This wasn’t the first time Pitchford teased the Borderlands 3 release. In 2016 he confirmed that a new Borderlands game will arrive and it will be a big one. At PAX 2017, he said that the studio is working on the next Borderlands game.

Gearbox has confirmed that 90 percent of the studio is working on a game everyone wants them to be working on. But there’s an interesting twist in the story. Take-Two has announced that it has pushed one of its highly anticipated games to the fiscal year 2020. The company was planning to release the game in the fiscal year 2019 which runs from April 2018 to March 2019. But now the company will launch this game sometime between April 2019 and March 2020.

Take-Two didn’t specifically mention that the Borderlands 3 has been delayed. The company said that the game developers need more time and that’s why a highly anticipated title from one of the publisher’s biggest video game franchise will be released in FY 2020. Take-Two has confirmed that it is working on two projects – Borderlands 3 and an unannounced game codenamed Project 1v1.

Fans have been asking for Borderlands 3 and Borderlands Remaster release for years, but it seems that they will have to wait a little longer. Borderlands 2 was a massive hit and publisher Take-Two had sold over 13 million copies of Borderlands 2 worldwide. If Gearbox is really working on Borderlands 3, fans should expect some big changes in the upcoming game. Even the game might not be called Borderlands 3.

The Borderlands lead writer Mikey Neumann left the studio in 2017 due to health problems. Another writer Anthony Burch who worked on Borderlands 2 also left the studio for a Hulu TV show. A Job listing appeared on the company’s official website and it led fans to believe that Gearbox is hiring a writer for Borderlands 3. There’s been no confirmation on who’ll take the charge for the new game’s writing.

If Borderlands 3 comes out anytime soon, the game will not be available on Nintendo Switch. Gearbox has confirmed that the studio was in talks with Nintendo, but it didn’t work out well as “they (Nintendo) have some other priorities,” said Pitchford. So, it clearly means that we will see Borderlands Remaster and Borderlands 3 on traditional platforms only.
