This Irish singer was born to Maura Gallagher and Bobby Horan. When he was a 5 year old in the year in 1998, his parents got divorced. His elder brother’s name is Greg. Initially Niall, used to live at both his parent’s places, but finally decided to settle in with his dad, as he was very comfortable with Mullingar.
His mother later got married to Chris Gallagher, who is from England. Niall Horan began schooling in St. Kenny National School and later on went to secondary school in Coláiste Mhuire in Dublin. He took active participation
in school plays and the choir and learnt to play the guitar at the age of 11.
Niall Horan’s singing talent was discovered when he and his family were on a road trip in their car. In addition to singing, he is also a talented guitarist and was gifted a guitar by his parents as a Christmas present.
His Music Career and His Climb to Fame
This young Irish singer was noticed when he took part in the X Factor competition in Dublin. Though his first performance “So Sick” did not get a 100% positive response from the judges, he was sent to the Boot Camp stage, as one of the judges Louis Walsh liked his performance.
At the Boot Camp, Niall Horan could not make it big in his stint as a solo artist, because the song that he sang, “Champagne Supernova” By Oasis did not strike the right chords with the judges. It seems Lady Luck was on his side, as he was still selected by the judges to form the boy band, One Direction, where they bagged the third place in the competition.
After their stint with X Factor, this boy group was immediately roped in by Syco, where they signed their first contract and recorded their first album “Up All Night”. This album went on to be the top sellers in the UK and US in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In November 2012, One Direction released their second album Take Me Home.
Niall Horan is the second youngest member of their group. He likes “big swing music” and likes to listen to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Eagles.
