(ThyBlackMan.com) Eminem was born as Marshall Bruce Mathers III on October 17th 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born to Debbie Nelson Mathers-Briggs, who was 15, when he was born and his father Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. abandoned Debbie when Eminem was just 18 months old.

Early Life and Education

Eminem spent most of his childhood moving back and forth between Saint Joseph and Detroit, Michigan. He had a tough life as he had to begin everything from start and it was difficult for him as a kid, to adjust to new environment especially living in tough urban neighborhoods.

This famous musician as a kid was a victim of bullying and street fights. This is the reason he always isolated himself from others and lived in his own world sketching pictures of his heroes. He formerly studied at Lincoln High Eminem-2014School in Warren from 1986 to 1989, but later had to switch schools every two to three months.

Eminem was least interested in school as his passion has always being rapping. This is the reason why he dropped out of school when he failed in the 9th grade three times. Marshall as he was formerly known began rapping at the tender age of four and took up this profession seriously at the age of 14.

He use to perform rap at his friend’s place and at the age of 17, he finally made a name for himself as Eminem. He became a battle rapper and performed in several clubs and radio shows making him a household name.

He had to face many hardships, as it was difficult for people to accept rappers during that period. Things began to fall in place as people gradually started accepting him as a qualified rapper and later on he went on to join the New Jacks and moved to Soul Intent to produce his first recorded single with them in 1995.

Music and Acting Career

While rapping with the group called Soul Intent, Eminem was introduced to a rapper named Proof who was impressed with this raw talent. Later on both of them soon started a new group known as D12 with four others.

He simultaneously launched his solo career by giving out two independent releases which were:

  • Infinite that was released in 1996
  • The Slim Shady, released in 1997

In 1999, he released his second album The Slim Shady LP that gained immense popularity and earned him his first Grammy Award for the best Rap Album. His other two releases The Marshall Mathers LP released in 2000 and the Eminem Show released in 2002 was also a huge hit. This was followed by Encore in 2004, Relapse in 2009, Recovery in 2010 and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 in November 2013.

Personal Life

Eminem was married twice to his high school sweetheart Kim Scott and has a daughter Hallie, who was born on December 25, 1995. The couple married in 1999, but soon divorced in 2001 only to be remarried in 2006. This second marriage too ended in April 2006.
