(ThyBlackMan.com) Marshall Bruce Mathers III or known to us as Eminem was born in St. Joseph Missouri on the 17th of October, 1972. He is an American rapper, an actor, and a record producer. His father, Marshall Mathers Jr. abandoned them when he was still an infant. He tried to contact his father during his childhood, but his father rebuffed his attempts. He was solely raised by his mother, Deborah. However, Deborah had a hard time finding regular job and so they have no choice but to frequently move between Detroit, Missouri, and Michigan. Because of this, Eminem changes schools two to three times in a year.

His childhood life

When he was a child, he never had close friends. Because he constantly switches school, he was always treated outcast at each new school. He remembered he was always beat up in the lockers, bathrooms, and hallways. Eminem also said that when he was a child, her mother emotionally and physically abused him. He even said that her mother is addicted toeminem-picture prescription drugs.

Eminem became a drop out at the age of 17. He had his high school education at Lincoln High School in Warren, Michigan. Unfortunately, he failed the ninth grade for three consecutive times. He was labeled as a poor student, but had seen deep passion and interest for language. He is into comic books and dictionary. Eminem is undoubtedly good at English. He was a teenage drop out, but he was able to find a beautiful way to express his passion through music. He became very interested in rap music of 80s and 90s. He was taken with N.W.A, who is a gangster rap crew from L.A.

During such time, rap music was ruled by black people. If you are going to look at Eminem, you will notice that he got a pale white skin with bright blue eyes. Despite his physical appearance, he joined the Detroit rap scene where he became a regular competitor in rap battles.

Among his top albums

Eminem has indeed ruled the rap genre. In 1999, he released The Slim Shady LP, which became a multi platinum album giving Eminem four MTV Video Music Awards and a total of two Grammy Awards. He released the Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, which became the fastest selling album in the history of rap. In 2010, he released Recovery detailing his struggles with drug addiction and rehabilitation.

His struggles with drug addiction and rehabilitation

For several years, Eminem was largely consumed by his personal problems and these have significantly affected his singing career. In 2000, he and his wife had divorced, but they decided to remarry in 2006. However, things didn’t get well again to the both of them for the second time around. Several months later, they divorced again, but this time it became very chaotic. They have a custody dispute over Hailie, their only daughter. Eminem had difficulties managing his problems and so he turned to alcoholism and addiction to prescription painkillers and sleeping pills. As a matter of fact, he nearly died when he overdosed sleeping pills. If he wouldn’t have gotten to the hospital in two hours, then he would have been dead.
