(ThyBlackMan.com) If you remember during the 2008 Presidential election, there was a strong effort to try to expose the faith of then Senator Obama. Many tried to label him an extremist because of his connection with the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright.

I am curious to know if Mitt Romney will receive the same type of treatment given the lack of knowledge that most Americans have about the Mormon faith. I think that faith must be on the table since it was a factor in the previous election. Perhaps the reason it has not be raised is because the GOP leaders know that up to 25% of their base absolutely will not vote for a Mormon regardless of his credentials.

Let’s take a look at some of the beliefs of GOP Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney Mormon’s faith. All of the information provided was taken from the Mormon Faith Tenets.

The Mormon faith teaches that God the Father was initially a regular man who had a wife and they both lived on a celestial planet. They conceived and produced celestial offspring which gave birth to spirits that created Jesus, the devil and mankind. Once babies are born, they receive one of these spirits. (Journal of Discourses Vol. 6 page 265)
Mormon’s believe that members who tithe 10% of their income will become gods of their own celestial planet.
Mormons believe that the Book of Mormon is more accurate that the Christian Bible. (History of the Church, vol. 4, p. 461)
Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are spirit brothers. (Mormon doctrine page 163)
Mormons believe that Jesus return to New Jerusalem will be on the American Continent. (Mormon Article of Faith #10)
Mormons believe that the gospel will be propagated through the Book of Mormon, not the bible. (Doctrines and Covenants section 10)
Mormons believe in baptizing the dead by proxy.
The Mormon church has a very disappointing past of allowing blacks to become clergy men.

According a Christian Post article,” What do Mormons Believe? Ex-Mormon speaks out, October 18, 2011 by reporter Devenish the following items were cited about Mormon beliefs:

Mormons do not believe in the trinity.
Mormons do not believe in grace.
Mormons do not believe in the original sin of man. According to the article, you cannot sin until the age of eight.
Mormons do not believe in hell.
Mormons believe that you can own your own planet if you are a good Mormon, married in the temple and tithe.
The ten tribes of Israel will return back to Missouri.

I took the time to itemize some of the different beliefs that Mitt Romney believes in to show that he is not a perfect candidate just because he seemingly names the name of Christ. We have to be careful with the Trojan Horses the GOP sends our way in the name of religion.

I challenge all of the African American pastors to consider if they want to vote for someone who believes totally different from what they preach every Sunday. If you can vote for Mitt Romney with a clear conscience knowing his religious beliefs, his insensitive policies that do not benefit the African American community then go for it. If you have reservations, then you must consider our current commander and chief.

It’s a waste to argue religion from a secular position. All religions are based on faith and people having no faith in one anothers’ religion, will never come to a meeting of the minds.

Something is wrong when people are saying Mitt has the right values… But he is Mormon. Maybe there is more to being Mormon than credit is given.

I am not a fan of the Mormon religion, but I struggle with this: President Obama is pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion. Romney is not. Can we, in good conscience, vote for a man just because he matches our skin color, but his values are not ours????

Mormon are white Supremists of the worst kind.
Plus they believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers and that they will be gods with their own planets.
There was always going to be a Mormon president, because they are in on the New World Order too much.
But let us remember that this church has been involved in too many scandals, because they are not realy a christian church but a Luciferian cult.
Only Lucifer can make you a god,

Okay all I want explained is he “White Horse Prophecy” which Mitt’s father believed in. And hiw he Constitution was “”inspied” by God in the same way the bible was “inspired” or “God Breathed”.

Wow. How does a person of faith and good conscience even sleep at night spinning so many lies and smears? Your true intent and contempt is not hidden at all. Since you like to read, you might read the Bible and review the Beatitudes, and the two great commandments. I’ve been a member of the LDS Church my whole life and never seen anyone in my faith disparage a person of another color or religion and not welcome them.
It’s unfortunate that you chose not to list the great things the LDS Church has done. We have given millions of dollars in medical supplies and food to the nations of Africa for a number of years. The LDS Church rolled the first semi-trucks full of supplies into the South after Katrina and the recent rash of Tornadoes in the south. We did this even before the government. We sent people, supplies, and assistance to Haiti after the earthquake. The Provident Living section of LDS.org can enlighten you as a “writer” as to the inummerable charitable acts and service our church provides to members of other faiths and races. Unfortunately, your hatred of the people of the LDS faith shows that you are blind and do not want to hear them. Your mind is made up. You might consider removing the beam from your own eye, before you pick the speck out of ours. Have a nice day.

Oh – at least Romney stands up for Christian values (like pro-life) even though he is what he is….Mormon. Plus, Romney loves this great country we live in and does not feel the need to apologize.
Hey, one other thing. Isn’t O’bama a wealthy man because of capitalism? (Yet he does not help his brother or aunt)

The difference between the GOP and dems is what they stand for. Biblical things like pro-life and pro-marriage is what the conservatives hold to. Is there something wrong with this? I don’t think so…..we do not want to take away the national day of prayer either. God is the center and basis for our views.
Besides Obama is half white sorry to say. Shouldn’t people vote because of what a candidate believes and not only because he is considered ‘a black man’?

I am thinking that the Mormon religion has some fanciful mythos that seem a bit far fetched. But then again when I look at the traditional black church and it’s doctrines and where they come from in the roman catholic church, I must also say the seem a bit far fetched. Both need a leap of faith to believe in. As a pretty much lone brother in my neighborhood who is not christian and is researching our ancient history over the globe, kemet, south america, India etc, I am often at a lost for how to articulate that there are other like me who do not ascribe too the religious myths and find it difficult to socialize, integrate with, network and otherwise get along with the staunch christians in our communities that would condemn us to hell for excepting jesus christ as our personal lord and savior.
Because I won’t tell my little girls that they were taking from a man’s rib and that their menstruation cycle is not a curse for something the first women did about 6000 years ago, I am out of the chrisian doctrinal loop. I can’t program into thinking that if they don’t except this jesus then not only do they don’t go to a place called heaven but they must be tortured for all eternity in a place called hell.
Where are your articles and columns that address those in the black community that believe in our unity but just not the slavery given doctrine of a savior? We are here, we are aware, and we want to connect. But we have to put our views on the back burner so we don’t offend anyone. We dare not site history or archaeological evidence and lack thereof. We dare not mention Gerald Massey, or Diop or Dr. Ben and other historians that point to our true his-story and African spirituality.
So Mormons say they come from outer space, interesting cause the Zulu say the same thing and are specific that is it Mars. Oh and the Dogon’s have been charting the Sirius star system for ages, but then that’s too much information and it anit in the bible. Just saying…

As a lifelong practicing Mormon, I would like to correct some of the misstatements made in this article, as many non-members don’t have a clear understanding of Mormon doctrine.

Partially false. God the Father was not a “regular man” when he created His spirit children. Mormon doctrine does not explain how these spirits were created. The spirits did include Jesus, Lucifer and all (future) mankind.

Misleading. Tithing is a biblical commandment, and as such it will be taken into consideration on Judgement Day. It is not the only prerequisite for getting to heaven (which is how Mormons refer to the odd phrase, “celestial planet.”)
