(ThyBlackMan.com) Are you the type of person who is stuck with huge debt? Have you searched for a way out but never succeeded? Before you go and hire a financial advisor, call the credit card companies and negotiate, or take any drastic step to eliminate your debt, you need to be aware of the various reasons you are in your current situation.  Identifying why you are in this situation will help you find a way out it.

Below are some common reasons why you are still in debt:

1. You do not know what to do.

One of the major reasons why you are still in debt is that you do not know   what to do with the current situation you are in. You want to get out but it seems like there is no way out. You see yourself stuck and it feels as if you have hit rock bottom..

2. Buying stuff is filling up the emptiness inside you.

Even though you know you already have huge debts, you are still impulsively shopping.  One reason may be that you are shopping to fill some emotional void inside of yourself.  That impulse will cause you to continue piling up the debt unless you fill that void by some other means.

3. You are afraid to know the truth.

We all know that the truth hurts. Keeping yourself in denial of the debt that you are in has set yourself up for deeper financial problems. Now it seems as if it is too late to know the truth since the damage has already been done.

4. Low self-esteem and no confidence that you can overcome this financial turmoil.

This is quite common for those who are having trouble with their credit card debts. Even if you are the one who put yourself into this mess, it does not mean you are a bad person and need to be treated badly. Do not punish yourself by getting in deeper debt and not doing something about it. You might wake up one day and have lost everything you have now.

When you can honestly identify the reasons for your huge credit card debts, you are a step away from getting out and being debt free!
