5 Ways to Get Motivated to Workout.

(ThyBlackMan.com) Every one of us wants to have a healthy and fit body. Yet most of us are too lazy to workout. So what we tend to do to lose weight without exercising is by trying different kinds of diet.

I recently discovered about the kind of diet one Korean idol did to lose weight. That diet requires you to eat only one meal every ten days. While fasting is done by few people for body detoxification, starving yourself for the sake of losing weight is not healthy.

Having a balanced diet plus exercise is the key to getting in shape. Here are a few tips for you to get motivated to workout:

Turn on the music.

Music directly affects how we move. Slow and mellow music helps us concentrate and relax, while upbeat music increases our motor coordination and reduces the feelings of fatigue. So turning on the music while we’re working out is a great motivation for us to keep moving. You can create a playlist of your favorite upbeat songs or search for one that’s best for workouts.

Put your workout clothes on.

Just like our pajamas are meant for bedtime, workout clothes are meant for exercising. Putting on your workout clothes will give you a motivational boost to get up from the couch. Aside from that, you can flaunt your workout routine on Instagram with your classy activewear pieces.

If you don’t have your own set of workout clothes yet, make sure to choose one that is comfortable and can support your body. It is advisable to purchase it straight from the store instead of ordering online for you to get the right fit. Avoid pieces that are too loose or too fitted. If you’re using pedals on your workout routine, avoid loose pants. Instead, opt for a fitted yet stretchable type of fabric. 

It is also important to consider the weather when you’re working out. Choose fabrics that wick sweat away during summer. On the contrary, you can add layers of pieces during the winter months.

Have a variety of exercises.

Our muscles need to repair after exercising. And it will be difficult for others to do a workout routine repeatedly if their muscles didn’t have time to rest. Others get bored when they do the same routine over and over again. 

Creating a variety of exercise spice up our workout routine and helps us exercise effectively. Do exercises alternately according to its five elements: strength training, core exercises, aerobic exercise, balance training, and stretching. 

Workout with Friends.

I know a friend who joined a gym membership. She was somehow motivated because the gym offered a discount for two months. However, she only visited the place thrice in a month. She already had the equipment, the place and time, yet she was still unmotivated. While there are a lot of determined people who can manage to visit the gym or perform their workout routine alone, there are some who are longing for buddies who can be with them as they pursue their fitness goals. 

Look for people who are also eager to make themselves fit and healthy. It may be your close colleagues, where you can go straight to the gym after office hours. It can be your school buddies – it’s a great bonding for busy people like you. You and your partner can also make it your couple goals. 

Focus on Your Goals.

Whether your main goal is to lose weight or stay healthy, you need to focus on what you want to achieve. If you tend to become too lazy to workout, reminding yourself of why you are doing it will help you get back to exercising. You can write it in a sticky note and post it in a place where you can see it often. Celebrate little progress as well. Always have fun exercising while pursuing your fitness goals.
