(ThyBlackMan.com) The edge-to-edge display trend is taking the gadget world by storm and the Apple Watch Series 4 is no exception. During Apple’s September event in 2018, the company introduced the Watch Series 3 successor. It’s a smartwatch that comes in Apple’s traditional square shape watch pattern with curved edges. The edge-to-edge display looks stunning and there’s a big physical button called the digital crown on its left side.
For the Watch Series 4, Apple has introduced two variants. One is 40mm and the other one is 44mm. Since these watches feature edge-to-edge display, users can expect over 30 percent bigger display in the Watch Series 4. For big displays, Apple has redesigned the UI in Watch Series 4. The company has also designed a new watch face that brings up to eight complications on the home screen. You can check the weather, temperature, activity data and much more right from the home screen of your Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch.
You can also add your contacts to your watch face and with a single tap on the screen, you can get connected to them. Watch faces on the Apple Watch Series 4 are completely customizable so you can add anything you want, even the apps available from third-party developers can be added.
The digital crown now supports haptic feedback. For a better navigation, Apple has redesigned this button. The Cupertino giant has made some more hardware changes to the new Watch Series. For example, the speaker on the watch is now 15 percent louder than the speakers available on the Watch Series 3. It’s a great improvement since the Apple Watch now features an exciting new feature called Walkie-Talkie. To make the audio quality better, Apple has moved the microphone to the opposite direction to make sure that users won’t experience echo sound during voice calls.
On the back side of the Apple Watch Series 4, you will see a heart rate sensor. The back of the watch is made of ceramic and sapphire crystals. This design strategy allows the new Apple Watch to receive radio waves from both front and back. It is a major improvement that will result in better signal reception.
Apple Watch Series 4 is powered by the company’s S4 chip. This small hardware component contains a 64-bit dual-core processor and it is designed to perform two times faster than the previous generation watches. Accelerometer and gyroscope have been improved with twice the dynamic range and are capable of sampling data eight times faster than before.
One of the biggest and most useful improvements in the Apple Watch Series 4 is that the smartwatch can now detect slips and falls. The gyroscope collects wrist trajectory data and acceleration to recognize the pattern and if it’s a fall or a slip, the Apple Watch Series 4 can help you make an emergency call immediately. If the watch senses that a user is not moving for more than a minute after a fall, it will automatically get connected to the emergency services. In such cases, your location will be shared with the emergency contacts and the SOS system.
In the heart rate monitoring system, Apple has made some improvements in the optical sensor. If your heart rate falls below the average normal, the watch will generate a pop-up notification and notify you about the same. Another feature that’s also an impressive one is the heart rate rhythm monitoring. Apple Watch Series 4 can now detect irregular heart rate rhythms and if it notices that your heart rate is showing signs of irregularity, it can detect it and notify you.
If you’ve noticed, the back of the Apple Watch Series 4 looks different. You know that it’s because of the sapphire crystals and ceramic, but what’s more interesting about this design is that the back of the watch is powered by electrodes. Why it is useful because users can take an electrocardiogram (ECG) right from their wrist.
The new Apple Watch Series 4 runs on the company’s new WatchOS 5. It offers up to 18 hours all-day battery life. The Apple Watch Series 4 with GPS is available for $399 and the GPS with Cellular model starts at $499. With that said, the company has decided to cut down the price of its previous generation watch and now the Apple Watch Series 3 starts from $279.
