Real Christians Are Not Sinners.

(ThyBlackMan.com) Recently on CNN I heard Franklin Graham say that we all are sinners. His comment reminded me how many people have played into, believed and been deceived by a false doctrine – a doctrine that neither Christ nor the New Covenant nor the New Testament promotes nor supports. That false/flawed doctrine is that “we all are sinners”. Such doctrine is based on faulty reasoning, poor study, misapplication of scripture and a lack of understanding of what makes a born-again Christian who he is (identity).

The idea that you are “a sinner saved by grace” is a man-made deception – not in scripture.

Many people use man’s reasoning and man’s logic to conclude that “we all are sinners”. This is a big problem and a bigger error because scripture teaches God’s ways are not the ways of man and His thoughts are not the thoughts of the carnal or unlearned (Isaiah 55:8-9). A real Christian must have the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:16, Philippians 2:5). And praying, going to “church” every week or giving and good works do not make you a child of God (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12). You must be born again (John3:1-21, 1 Peter 1:22-23).

Pastors, teachers and even seminaries often make the mistake of repeating a lie, deception or error without ever checking to see if it was accurate or not. That is how the lie that “we all are sinners” continues to circulate everywhere. And to say you are “a sinner saved by grace” is very problematic and just plain wrong. Either you are one or the other. If you are saved by grace, you are no longer a sinner. You can no more be both at the same time than you can be a believer and an unbeliever at the same time. As you will see, the differences are so vast that to be both at the same time will not work. Nor is such taught in the Bible. So be very careful of man-made clichés’.

The Bible tells us how to determine who is a real believer and who is not. I John 4:1-5, Matthew 7:15-20, Matthew 13:24-30, Galatians 5:22, Romans 8:14

Man’s reasoning and logic, as he leans to his own understanding, says “if you do something regularly, it must define who you are”. Thus the flawed idea is “if you sin, you must be a sinner” and that “we all sin so we all must be sinners”. But as you will see in this article, God sees, identifies and determines things differently for His children. The New Covenant clearly teaches us that God defines His children by relationship (Psalm 103;14), not by behavior. Furthermore, we must call ourselves what God/Christ calls us (Romans 8:16, Galatians 4:7, II Corinthians 6:18, John 1:12, I Corinthians 1:2, Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, Colossians 1:2).

Sinners are judged by behavior but children of God are judged by relationship.

So then what are the differences between a child of God who sins and a sinner? There are many differences. Sinners do not go to Heaven. Saints or children of God do go to Heaven because we have an advocate with the Father, because ALL of our sins have been paid for by Christ (II Corinthians 5:21), because our sins are not held against us (Mica 7:18-19, Psalm 103:12, I John 1:9) and because we accept Christ’s payment and sacrifice of himself via his death in exchange for our receipt of eternal life. And eternal life is not just granted until you sin. If it were, it would by definition never be eternal in the first place and we would lose it every week.

Calling yourself what God calls you is your only real identity.

Sinners have no family relationship with God. The Holy Spirit does not dwell in sinners and they have not been adopted into God’s family through the blood of Christ but this is not true for children of God (I Corinthians 6:19 as Paul speaks to believers (I Thessalonians 2:10) at the church of Corinth and I Corinthians 3:16). Sinners have not accepted the sacrifice Christ made to pay their debt so they have to pay it themselves – a debt that required a death as payment. This is not true of God’s children (Romans 8:2). Sinners are therefore condemned to die a spiritual death but children of God in Christ are redeemed, not condemned (Romans 8:1).

Sinners still have their old nature of sin that dominates, rules and controls them but sin does not have dominion over a child of God (Romans 6:6). Nor does a child of God have the sin nature any longer (Ephesians 4:24, Colossians 3:10). Sinners have no inheritance in the Kingdom of Good but children of God have an inheritance (Romans 8:17). A sinner is the same old person they have always been but a child of God is a new person (II Corinthians 5:17). God sees a sinner as blemished and unholy but He sees His children as both holy and unblemished (Ephesians 1:4, Ephesians 4:24). And that is how He deals with us. A child of God is a citizen of Heaven but a sinner is destined for Hell (Philippians 3:20). I could go on but you get the point and the proof is undeniable. There are far too many differences between sinners and children of God for them to be one and the same.

If you are a born-again child of God, you are not a sinner. You will slip, make mistakes, fall short and sin. But that is neither your identity nor your nature. You are simply in an imperfect vessel (the human body / the flesh) which gives in to temptation (Galatians 5:17). You are a spirit with a soul living inside a body and having the human experience, including the human disadvantages (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Yet you need to overstand you are very different from a sinner for the reasons mentioned herein and then some. And for these reasons, new believers often look and act like unbelievers. While salvation occurs in an instant, the process of becoming more and more like Christ (sanctification) takes both time and growth. The Bible clearly speaks for itself on all of this without the need for interpretation.

It is most important that you remember Christ (Yeshua) did not come to help you stop sinning. He came because you could not stop. No human being is free from sin but children of God do not practice a life and nature of that sin. And when we fall, we restore each other, we repent and we realize that we have been forgiven.

Simply Amazing, not only did you (Mark Anthony) attack Islam which has actually helped a lot of my brother with guidance (and isn’t infiltrated by other LGBTQIB) or even “normal” promiscuous sex/clothing literally sometimes blatantly in the church. Is this a sign of a true religion? I’m confused mostly. Then you repeat some anti-Muslim here-say stuff? No context? Proof?? What you a “Zionist”?. In spite of all they do overseas? Dissapointing.

You can’t even read straight! The Negro isn’t even a MUSLIM. He’s with Umar Johnson, a pan-africanist who shuns all religions. Its hard to figure you out, it must be his name that triggered you against Islam?? You obviously know Umar well enough to know his position right?

What about the Motherland’s Islamic Moor’s for instance? Do you discredit them too? Why attack Islam?

If you are that insecure in your religion, maybe its appropriate you try another.

This conversation is just so..wack. As the saying goes “Thou who protests too much” Do you get payed by the hour from a religious institution?

  2. M Anthony says:

    To Abu Hassan

Islam is far worse. Muhammad was illiterate and did not write the Quran.
Further nobody was in the cave when he supposedly received the Quran from an angel. He took child brides 9pedophilia) etc.

  3. M Anthony says:

    To Abu,

Umar Johnson is a scam artists. Did he ever start his school? Look how he talked down to brothers and sisters. He uses inappropriate language. Then there was the prostitute scandal. He is no role model but you who believe in him are deceived because he talks a good game. Look on youtube and watch how he reacts when he is asked to be accountable for all the money he took.

  4. Abu Hassan says:

As a heart-felt student of Dr. Umar Johnson I have to comment on this appalling tragedy in racial strife and divison

One thing going for the black community is relentless diversity. Its also the greatest detractor when harnessed by neo-liberal forces, even ones you don’t fathom to recognize. Even engaging with these fools proves how weak your stance is brother. There are blatant holes in your religion (everybody knows that) and screaming Jesus, Jesus! isn’t going to fix it. African Americans are the most religious yet are behind white people and asians in almost everything and on par with their morals.

Do you seriously believe a slave religion that was beaten in to our people (harkens back to “Toby” to “save” us?. Yes we all know a minority of Africans did engage in Christianity and even those were “inspired” by the Roman invasion of Egypt and other white forces. African Religions lay “untouched” while Christianity is slowly becoming what it always was since the council of Nicea and before that to our serving as slaves. A Eurocentric ploy to control us. Half of us have a white man of Jesus in the first place. You ignore their points that could be used against them about such as native religion beliefs dismissing them foolishly, selfishly for your own faith.

As Umar Johnson said religion is just a means of the lazy. How much time do you have on your hands brother? Yes there is somthing greater then you I’m not against you on that. But why limit yourself to Jesus? Believing one faith is greater then the other is just tribalism and the modern white-supremacist version of it brother. We are all God’s children irrelevant of “which faith”

I (sadly) know many black atheists but ironically some of them have more traditional values then “Christians”.. Wherever there’s Christianity ironically there is Western Values even in parts of the Motherland, Africa! Such as conflict and the U.S war machine. They aren’t linked to each other. They are THE SAME THING.

I’ll pray for you brother to come around. Straight to the African God’s and Ancestors I worship while you worship their conqueror’s faith.

Im amusingly frustrated that are so excited and giddy at reveling to practice your inner-coon and protecting the white man’s religion that you fail to see your demise. Many African Americans (especially Millineals) are on the fence as it is with true faith in a higher power . What makes since to you means nothing to them. Even still you debut this trash debate right on your home page.

    Absolutely Disgusting.

P.S You have been officially been added to the cultural “coon list” brother. It would be funny if it weren’t so damn pathetic. Have some respect for your self.

  5. M Anthony says:

Its sad how many people are chiming in on the discussion of this article only to express their anger or try and hijack the topic when the article is not even speaking to them. Those who are supposed to hear are hearing. And there are many more likes than there are angry atheists who cannot accept there is someone greater than them. Sad

  6. M Anthony says:

    To Shalom,
You hear what is said as riddles and circles because you lack understanding that comes from the Holy Spirit revealing the mysteries. Those are not open to you but only to true believers.

You speak of religions that conflict. But I can also tell you science that conflicts, medicine that conflicts, psychology that conflicts and every other area that has differences of opinion. That does not mean Christianity is wrong. I don’t plan to try and explain to you the things that God has not even opened your eyes to because they are not for you to know.

You seem hostile and combative just as many Atheists are because the emptiness breads contempt. And where did you get the idea that Indian civilization was ALL honest and decent? Which tribes? Did you know the indigenous people were not even called Indians?

You try to use rationalization and logic then go back and reference scripture at the end. Which is it? Find some good work, thought or ideal that is not covered by the New Testament. You are lost and in denial. I could refute every point you made but you would never accept the facts because you need to get your heart and your belief right.

  7. Shalom Emanel says:

Men when noted if behind don’t know the moment to end. Cease your arguments that atheists are “lost”. This is just a “neutral” springboard that often theists use to deem us “witches” and “golums” you personally behind a computer screen wouldn’t say so but in real life I have experienced quite a different tone. Even blatant hostility mind you. Even disconnection with my American Family. All for what a religious opinion?

    1) Being “lost”. You talk in circles, I could easily identify countless Christians who are lost. In Britain I know many atheists are “found” Whats the point? The Morals specific to Christians are in truth practiced by all. The majority of you are no different then us in 99.99% of morality. Yes I’m a a black liberal atheist that hates abortion. Black or White we aren’t even “rare”. Stop pretending you have some “hidden” power or morality that every religion claims; that you don’t specify in the REAL WORLD. Meditation for example a secular buddhist example easily is shown to aid and assist and are literally infinite examples of this. Happy community, mind, soul, body solid family. This “lost” you speak of is merely partisan proprietary “my-way-or-the-highway” thinking. History is single speak for HIS STORY. Remember that (We’ll come to that later)

    2) “Fine something Honest and Decent” not in the New Testament. You mean Indian Civilization? (((BG 4.21: Free from expectations and the sense of ownership, with mind and intellect fully controlled, they incur no sin, even though performing actions by one’s body.))) Horus? African Civilization? Peace, Unity, Turning the other hceek? Did the Greeks invent Math?? Study the Bhagavad-Gita and Lord Shiva thoroughly. Of course its in the New Testament. Now, Name a single Moral that ISNT found and already established in past religions. I challenge you. I’ll reply back with quotes to each verse you reply. Why does God need to release the same revelation over and over? Isn’t that counter to what a revelation even is? Indian Civilization obviously predates Christianity from as little as 400 years to thousands.

    3) Proof? If its ONE TRUE GOD why are their at least 5 large religions that conflict each other? Even conflicting views on JESUS CHRIST himself. Their needs to be one-ness. Imagine if there are 5 or any more then 1 different “versions” if you will of the physical law of gravity in our space bubble on which earth were to be later placed. You couldn’t even assemble a planetary sphere let alone a civilization. God is far more important then gravity yet we have 5 different “versions” of him each contradicting with the other.

    4) The Last Day has been practically every day or at least couple of years. Fragmentation of Nations and talks of “security” in the bible serve as a clue. But mankind has done this since BEFORE Christianity to fool people as well as natural empire splitting. (Early Persians, Saxons, African Empire Betrayals etc) “Rejection of Christianity” (Asia, Jews etc) One doesn’t have to be a disbeliever to see that the “clues” of the final day is tantamount to hiding a pin and me saying on to you. I have hidden a pin in the Milky Way Galaxy. Its (end day predictions especially pertaining to mother nature) are so perfectly elastic the events in the verses happens annually, by the decade and the century with no sudden truly long-term uptake in frequency denoting the endgame.

  8. M Anthony says:

    To James again
All atheists are not bad, they all are just lost. Who are you misquoting now? Furthermore you say or imply the Christian doctrine can have negative impact. I guess you are trying to say the doctrine is flawed as well as those who stand with it. The problem is that you have not given any proof at all. Your points are just opinions without evidence, petals in the wind.

  9. M Anthony says:

James I would speak to you by phone. If you dare, send your number to brainstormonline@yahoo.com. Atheists are often empty and thus angry. In fact why are you even on this site reading the article if you don’t believe? Clearly it is not speaking to you nor for you.

  10. M Anthony says:

    To James
The Atheist was attacking others and bringing up straw man arguments that were not the subject of the article herein. Your Atheist buddy was attempting to hijack the discussion and take it off course. That is both ignorant and inappropriate. Furthermore he had no sound reasoning to refute anything in the article anyway.

Naming 4 African American leaders who may in fact be brilliant in some areas but walk in darkness in others is hardly strong evidence for your point. I could name 20 believers just as brilliant for every one person you named. So again your point does not hold water.

Your idea of what if there was a God is weak as well. It is based on your lack of understanding because the scriptures are not open to Atheists except to tell you to repent and be born again. Thus you see contradictions because the mysteries of the Kingdom are closed off to you. You are an outside and thus have no right to know the mysteries. And that reflects in your feeble arguments and lack of understanding.

As for you pulling a few prophecies out to try and prove a point or disqualify Christ, that is sad. If you are right (and you are not), that would mean you just sealed your own fate. You will find out soon enough and if you don’t change your thinking, I hope you have a body suit made of ice. You will need it.

Every person who died not believing now believes. But the problem is that they believed too late once they found out it was all true. I could address your attack on scripture but why do so? I should speak in parables because you will not understand it anyway (as Christ said).

  11. James Smith says:

I was okay with my fellow atheists stating their points. Until you attack them

This notion that atheist lay in darkness is in ITSELF a straw-man argument.

African American Physicist Neil De Grass Tyson a brilliant person lies in darkness?
Civil Rights pioneer A. Philip Randolph a brilliant person lies in darkness?
Ayaan Hirsi a brilliant person lies in darkness?
Langston Hues a brilliant person lies in darkness?

What if there was a God?
    1) God wouldn’t allow himself to be copied into countless religions where the real truth is indistinguishable

    2) Jesus doesn’t meet the qualifications to be Savior
*The temple is not rebuilt*, *we don’t all worship the same god* *there isn’t worldwide peace or lessening of conflict at the time of the conflict. This is from the Old Testament

You stereo-type all atheists as bad while you paint the Christine Doctrine as by monolithic standards good while ignoring that it can’t have any negative points only its followers are flawed.

    Talk about blatant hypocrisy.

  12. M Anthony says:

Adam the issue and point of the article was not to attack Easter religions. You pulled that out of a hat and you are launching what is known as a STRAW MAN ARGUMENT.

  13. M Anthony says:

    To Micheal,
You did not present a stronger argument than the article. And since you are an atheist, you really have no support for your points but your opinion. Also I challenge you to find something that you consider honest and decent that is not in the New Testament. You can’t.

You went off the deep end about sex before marriage. What are you talking about? Do you use drugs? Using your formula, anybody can develop an ideology about anything. Atheists lie in a lonely and damaged dark cave of nothingness. You trust only in yourself but you did not even create yourself. The big question is what if you are wrong and there is a God? There is and there is both spiritual and hard tangible evidence. Be careful you do not teach your children to walk into Hell.

  14. Adam Edwards says:

Supporting SOME of brother Stevenson points (not the gay part), I know several Christian friends (some who sin frequently), (some who don’t) who have unhappy, sad lives. On the other side I have Islamic, Buddhist, Taoist, Atheist, and New Age black folk who have happy lives. Still whatever helps the African Race I support. I just don’t want Christianity to serve as a Natural Monopoly (or traditional religion for that manner)

The key issue is brothers and sisters is it’s not an OBJECTIVE TRUTH.

Eastern Spiritual religions have their own miracles, “personal savings” and deep inspirational quotes

African Animalist to African Gods and yes the larger compassing “Pagans” have the same

So does Islam and Judiasm some Isrealites. (They dislike the Trinity)

    Peace and Blessings!

  15. M Anthony says:

    To J Matthews,
Before you criticize, you might want to learn how to spell. Secondly, you did not refute anything referenced with scriptural support in the entire article so you have a really weak position.

  16. Azalee Turner says:

Biblical interpretation is the key. We are saved by grace, which means we are not saved because we are without sin. No human is sinless. Only God has no sin. That’s all is meant by the term “sinners” for a believer. We do not live a sin free life because we are unable to do so. Jesus, Our Savior, makes us sinless in the sight of God. We don’t call ourselves sinners in the same way as unbelievers who are not living in a state of grace. You are so right: God’s ways are not our ways, and we do not have perfect understanding about His ways. We can only have unwavering faith in Him. And that is all He requires.

  17. Micheal Stevenson says:

As an African Ameriacn atheist father (with an atheist family). I would like to spread far and wide the secular mantra of freedom and of personal responsibility. Lets not pretend Sex before Marriage is rational or even done by our ancestors, even Islam speaks of “Temporary Marriage”. Lets not pretend that Gays have always existed (the bible speak of it) or how they are merely following Heterosexuals in taking part of Sexuality as Freedom in America, not under traditional non publicized strict religious guidelines. For them to go away our society would have to transition to a pre-sexual revolution. You ask of the impossible.

My children are well educated, participate in group economics and, like their father have respect other people’s union, marriage. I sincerely wish you the best.

  18. J Matthews says:

Real sinners are Cristians. You are one point of many, you confidence is without love, grace and the depth Christ lived, died, and was resurrected.

  19. M Anthony says:

Not mere sinners, but also not sinners at all.
Some are but they are those who choose not to accept Christ, becoming a new creature, the newness of life, the transformation by the Holy Spirit and moving from becoming a sinner to a believer.

Its scary how many pastors and church leaders do not overstand this truth. So they go on teaching the believer/child of God is a servant or a sinner, ignoring what the Bible actually teaches.

  20. jim S says:

Thank you, for sharing this article. It paints a nice picture in our minds not to think of ourselves as mere sinners, but as God, hopefully, sees us.
