The carnage, genocide, poverty, and famine on the supposedly poorest continent on the Earth was derived from her richness in natural resources. For more than 3,000 years, Africa has been stripped of her intellectual properties, natural resources and physical labor.
The colonial education system has done an ingenious job, portraying Africa as a backwards land of paganism and ignorance in dire need of civilization and Christianity. The strategy hides the true reason for occupation: the theft and control of natural resources, while securing inexpensive labor to extract those resources.
The Berlin Conference of 1884-1885, also known as the ‘Scramble for Africa,’ resulted in European countries — Portugal, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, and Belgium rushing to secure African territory to exploit the land for its resources. By the turn of the 20th Century, European countries governed more than 90% of Africa.
Please understand that the mapping of African nations by Europeans caused great disruption in the natural tribal territories and relations. This was purposefully done to create tribal warfare, making the extraction of natural resources much easier. Why do you think there is so much propaganda about Africa, focusing on famine, disease, refugees, and supposed backwardness?
The purpose is to hide the billions of dollars earned yearly by multinational corporations that heavily depend on extracting resources from Africa to sell on the international market.
While Africans in the diaspora are disgusted with Africa and 
anything African processing their hair, bleaching skin, adopting European fashion sense and taste, White Americans and Europeans are vacationing in Cape Town, South Africa, Ukunda, Kenya, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and Nungwi, Tanzania. Africans in the diaspora want nothing to do with the rich heritage, beautiful landscape, and culture that ironically Europeans relish.
The fight for Africa is surprisingly not only about oil. Every murder of a freedom fighter (Dedan Kimathi, Amilcar Cabral, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, and Samora Machel) by colonial powers — was committed simply over access to the natural resources of their country. An independent African country that profits from its natural resources is the enemy of corporations that desperately want coffee, cocoa, palm oil, manganese and chrome for stainless steel, copper for the electrical industry, gold, uranium used to make the atomic bomb, cobalt needed for spaceships, diamonds, rubber, platinum, palladium, petroleum, columbite used in jet engines and airplane engines. Currently, there is a huge demand from the cosmetic industry for shea butter, which is derived from the African Shea tree, and is used as a moisturizer and healer of skin and hair.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa. We must acknowledge the role we have played in our own conditions by selling out our brothers and sisters for material gain. Puppet regimes have been just as destructive to the plight of Africans as the colonial powers that fund them. We have sold out our brother and sisters on both the political and civilian levels both in Africa and the diaspora. Primetime television is flooded with African Americans whose only connection to Africa is the melanin of their skin.
Please educate yourselves and your families on the real reasons for the current condition of Africa and her children. Wars, famines, poverty, genocide, and civil unrest are not organic manifestations among the “uncivilized”, but are deliberate and strategic plans to estrange brothers while profits increase for the carnage orchestrators.
Information is power. Do not allow others to distort the reality. Too many Africans are ashamed of their heritage due to the lack of understanding of what that heritage truly is. Colonial education misleads and misinforms facts of the African slave trade and never highlights the long history of chattel slavery in the British Isles or during the Arab occupation of Spain. The prevalent thinking among Africans, even in America, is widely unacknowledged psychological oppression, a miasma of ignorance and inferiority. The first step necessary is acknowledgement and taking deliberate steps towards liberation from mental and sociological strongholds that propagate Africa as nothing more than a pillage resource.
