(ThyBlackMan.com) Professional tennis player Serena Williams is reveling in the fact that she recently pulled off a stunning performance at the Indian Wells Tennis Gard where in 2001 the fans booed her and her sister, also a professional tennis player, during a tournament game. The girls’ father claimed that they were victims of racism at that time.

Due to the negativity surrounding that particular incident Serena Williams swore that she would never again participate in the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament. True to her word for 14 years, her recent performance at the same event was her first since the incident. This time she had a much better experience as she got a standing ovation from the crowd. Serena stated that even if she didn’t win this year’s tournament it didn’t matter because she already felt like a winner anyway.

This tennis tournament and the sense of accomplishment it brought Serena Williams is in stark contrast to her experience at last year’s Wimbledon where she stated she was retiring from participating in this event. Throughout the course of a doubles match held during the event Serena seemed disoriented according to those in attendance. The very next day Serena Williams took to her serenawilliams-2015Instagram account to post a picture of herself resting on her couch with a bottle of Gatorade by her side and her iPhone and MacBook in front of her. She reported that she posted this picture on Instagram to support her statement that a stomach bug had prevented her from performing in her Wimbledon match to her usual standards.

More than just a successful tennis player, Serena Williams also has her own line of women’s clothing, including dresses, leggings and tops in sizes ranging from extra small to 3X. Items from her clothing line can be purchased from the Home Shopping Network.

No matter what Serena Williams does she does it with grace and dignity.
