(ThyBlackMan.com) I will always love Whitney Houston.  And millions of other people will too.  I’m recalling my recollection of the news of Whitney Houston after just watching film clips of her on YouTube.  I had just finished turkey chili over chef Rick Bayless’s Frontera lime + sea salt tortilla chips,  Florida’s Natural orange juice (the brand that doesn’t have fungus in their juice because they don’t import their oranges) and banana,  honey crunch gelato from Bar Toma restaurant (located in Chicago) for dinner on Saturday, February 11, 2012.   Then I began to relax by listening to the radio.  About an hour later a report on the radio announced that Whitney Houston was dead.  I just couldn’t believe it.  I didn’t want to believe it.  I waited to the bottom of the hour to confirm this news and get more details.

She was found in the bathroom of a Beverly Hills, California hotel.  Paramedics arrived to do what they could to assist her with her life.  They were notWhitneyHoustonTribute successful in reviving her.  The Whitney Houston who brought the world joy through music sadden America and the rest of the planet with the stunning tone of death.  She was 48 years old.

She packed in a multitude of musical hits for us to jam to, romance to, ponder over and be blessed about in her 48 years of living.  Whitney Houston sang songs that drove love and soul through my heart and emotions.  Pick any song by Whitney Houston and play it.   Your ears will be bathed in sound luxury like pure silk and cotton layered over a cold earlobe – decadent,  pleasing and a comfort to the soul.  I loved running to the radio to hear a Whitney Houston song.  Her voice cradled my emotions and rocked my senses.  She took a song to the edge of the seat of her vocal chords and dropped a talent the music world will never know again.

Whitney Houston captured my attention by giving me “I Will Always Love You, “  “Run To You,”  “Try It On My Own” (ahh…you don’t know that one, do you?  i-Tune it!) or “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” among countless songs in her record catalogue performed in euphonious excellence.  I always felt better listening, spiritually, and for pure enjoyment when she rested her voice onto the bed of inspiration and liberation.   There was a special quality to Whitney’s singing that pulled me down the tracks of hope.  Singing so unarduous, I wonder if Whitney was an angel in the ministry of music?

Her songs,  her albums/CDs,  her movies made cash registers ring in a glut of commerce happiness.  She chose to sing pop/soul/R&B and gospel music which gave us  Billboard chart brilliance.    A song released by Whitney Houston guaranteed gold or platinum record sales.  Whitney motivated us to go to the record stores to get her latest tune.  There are not too many (if any) singers today who could reign over music consumers the way Whitney Houston has done.

We are all given special talents and abilities to impact ourselves,  people,  and the world.  Whitney utilized her talents to the ultimate aura of good;  giving all who chose to listen (and there are millions) to her music optimism,  joy,  ethnic pride,  romance and exquisite notes of  happiness.  No matter if she sang about the pains and pleasures of love,  made rhythms to help get your party on or soared vocally to provide positive wind to urge you to lift your goals, Whitney Houston gave a gift to honor music which honored us.  But still,  why does it hurt so bad several years after the fact she’s gone?
