Niall Horan has been quoted saying and his belief in staying celibate until marriage has cemented his beliefs. He is one of the members of the boy group One Direction that has been making waves worldwide. Born in September 1993, he is among the oldest in the group and the funniest. He is known for his love of food and his laugh, blue eyes and Irish accent are some of his trademarks.
How he met the other band members
It is actually a very interesting story in that they were all contestants at the X Factor music competition and they all failed to make it through as solo contestants to the next level after boot camp. The then judges, Simon Cowell,
Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger decided to put Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik together as they were too good to let go.
The group was formed and named One Direction. Initially, Niall Horan had suggested that the group be named “Niall Horan and the potatoes”. Katy Perry told Niall Horan not to let her down and when their album topped the US Charts, she tweeted “Congratulations, you did not let me down”.
Niall Horan is credited in writing the lyrics to the group’s songs like Taken, Everything about you, Same Mistakes, Back for you and Summer love. In his own words, he has always one of those kids that just liked music in general, and I always wanted to pick up the nearest instrument. Niall Horan has been playing the guitar since he was 11 years old and has contributed to additional guitar in songs like Live while we are young, Kiss you, Heart attack, Change my mind and you are still the one.
Up close and personal
Niall Horan parents divorced when he was only 5 years old and he lived at both his parents’ houses until he settled with his father permanently. He has a brother, Greg, who recently was blessed with a son. As for his relationships, he dated Holly Scally before he appeared on the X Factor show. They however parted ways.
Recently, Niall Horan has been linked to Demi Lovato, whom he has a celebrity crush on. She on the other side reciprocates the feeling and they have confessed to keeping in touch through Skype. Niall Horan owns a cat called Jess. Initially, he owned pet fish named Tom and Jerry who perished due to overfeeding.
He is the only member of the group who was not born in England as his birth place is in Ireland. He is openly patriotic and has the colors of his flag stuck under his microphone. As for his inspiration, his favorite album is Bon Jovi’s greatest hits. He likes Justin Bieber and Barack Obama and a guitar was the best Christmas gift he got last year.
