Love and the Lost Connection in the Black Family…

(ThyBlackMan.com) The most powerful force we have on this planet is love.  Back in the day the way my grandmother and grandfather displayed love for one another was a thing of beauty.  As one studies Black America today it is impossible to overlook the lack of love many of us display for one another.  There are many internal and complex issues that cause thousands, if not millions of Black Americans to have a distorted view of the sacred purpose between men and women, which is balance.

The core of this problem I believe is that our world is filled with people who have not reached their full potential mentally because of uncontrolled emotions.  These uncontrolled emotions cause problems that ultimately    change the balance between black men and women, a balance that is needed to secure a strong black family based on love.

We can look back at the African ancestors that we now call the Dogan.  Their mastering of the male and female relationship needs to be studied by Black America today because the foundation of their successful culture was a true understanding of male and female balance.  Basically they lived a way where not only the men were in power but both the male and female were in power simultaneously.  They knew their particular roles in their society and didn’t try to over power each other.  In Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh wouldn’t sit until his Queen mother sat first; a tremendous show of respect for the black woman.

Our culture today has a 33% increase in domestic violence and a 70% of children being born out of wedlock which clearly shows that we got some work to do.  Our first step back to love is that we all must realize as Dr. Jewel Pookrum has stated “one has to understand that females are the physical enlightenment of the divine force energy and males are the creator’s physical embodiment in which female light is directed.”  We are all made to compliment each other.  Next we must understand the difference between a matriarchal society which is a society in which females, especially mothers, have the central roles of political leadership and moral; and a patriarchal society which is a social system in which the role of the male as the primary authority figure is central to social organization, and where fathers hold authority over women, children, and property.  Finally we must compare the two to a matrilineal society in which the Dogan lived by.  These things I realize aren’t an easy task with the type of propaganda that Black Americans face everyday, but it can be done through a collective solidarity.

If Black Americans are to return to a place of love, which will help us regain the ability to teach our young the proper way to display love, we must study.  Historical study brings a love of self in which epidemics like thugism and haterism wouldn’t exist because a learned man would eventually think his way out of mental slavery which is where the lack of love receives its energy from.
