(ThyBlackMan.com) Halo Infinite is the Xbox Scarlett launch game and it plays best on Xbox Scarlett, said Microsoft. At E3 2019 press conference, Microsoft revealed some details about the mysterious Xbox Project Scarlett. It is a console that aims to achieve 8K or 4K resolution at up to 120 frames-per-second. The console will arrive in 2020. While Microsoft and 343 Industries appear reluctant to share Halo Infinite gameplay details, here’s what we know so far.
Developers working on Halo Infinite have complete access to the Project Scarlett hardware. Alongside the other Scarlett launch titles, the next Halo game is the first to take full advantage of the console’s hardware power. The Xbox Scarlett hardware portfolio suggests that the console has a custom AMD Zen 2-based CPU coupled with a custom AMD Navi-based graphics processing unit. At the heart of Scarlett lies GDDR6 RAM helping the SoC to deliver four times more CPU power than the Xbox One X.
Microsoft is also adding a new generation SSD to Scarlett. To some people, this may not look like a big deal, but you’ll soon realize that the SSD storage plays a key role in the console’s performance. Early testing results proved that the performance increase is 40 times more over the existing Xbox One consoles. It means because of the new SSD, Scarlett users will experience reduced installation and load times.
It’s been two years and the game developer 343 Industries is still keeping gameplay details close to its chest. Microsoft has not confirmed anything for Scarlett users in terms of Halo Infinite gameplay, but since Microsoft is using this game to market its brand new console, things could change. One thing Microsoft’s Matt Booty confirmed is that Scarlett users will be “in prime position” to enjoy the game as Halo Infinite plays best on Xbox Project Scarlett.
In all the games Halo franchise has got so far, graphics upgrade have always been an exciting thing. From alien creatures to spaceships, weapons, and the Master Chief, the art design in Halo Infinite is a balanced mix of styles. You can see in videos how designers infused technology into their work. The design of characters and environment takes inspiration from the past and it also leverages the power of next-generation platforms and makes the game look more futuristic.
It seems 343 Industries has some good plans for the Halo Infinite gameplay. The developer confirmed LAN support and split-screen feature which was taken away from Halo 5. The developer team considers the game as a spiritual reboot instead of just calling it a sequel. The game, to some extent, will go back to its roots, the original Halo game, which inspired a large number of first-person shooter games.
Developers also confirmed that in Halo Infinite, characters will have black undersuits. So, unlike the previous two Halo games, we won’t be seeing undersuits of different colors. This is a good decision considering the negative response Halo 4 and Halo 5 garnered because of undersuit design. That said, 343 announced that armor customization will be there in the game. The company said that those who liked this option in Halo: Reach will love it in the upcoming game. Additionally, a “token of appreciation” will be given to players who reach SR 152 in Halo 5.
The story of Halo Infinite begins sometime after the Halo 5 events. The game is currently in development and Microsoft has given more time to the studio to work on it. 343 also said that a team of gamers is testing Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode. The studio will host beta sessions sometime soon. It has been confirmed that Halo Infinite beta tests, known as Fights, will be available for Xbox consoles first and later on PC. The testing will start small and then it will be continued until Holiday 2020.
