(ThyBlackMan.com) Google is expected to release the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL later this year. The rumor mill is already giving us an idea of what we should and should not expect from the new Pixel phones. Despite the fact that there’s no official news from Google, leaked details and rumors seem to point at some interesting changes and improvements in the Google Pixel 4 series phones.

Google Pixel 4 Release Date

The premium Google Pixel phones typically arrive in October, and Google is likely to announce two mobile phone models at that time. If Google follows the same release pattern, we will hear the announcement sometime in October and the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be available for preorder soon after the announcement with some exciting deals and offers.

Google Pixel 4 Specifications and Features

Before we go ahead and discuss the most exciting rumors surrounding the Pixel 4 features, it is important to note that Google seems ready to take a big bite out of the smartphone market. The company has already announced its budget-friendly smartphones Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL this May. There are rumors about a lighter version of the Pixel 4 phone which will likely be called the Pixel 4a. If Google continues the trend, we might not see the Google Pixel 4a anytime before 2020.

The latest premium phones from Google are Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. They offer plenty of new features and some major hardware improvements over the previous generation phones. The display on the Pixel 3 series phones is not as bright as we expected. The display feels dim especially when you’re out in sunlight. The battery life of these phones is also not good which is also a deal breaker for some. Google should look into this and add a brighter display to the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. These phones will also need a bigger battery so that they can at least last a whole day.

For the hardware, Google will likely go with the Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM. It should be noted that those who bought the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL were facing memory-related issues in these phones. Google later improved the memory management system, but for the new phones, at least 6GB of RAM is needed. We also expect to see a dual camera system on the back. Some reports suggest that Google will add a triple camera on Pixel 4, but it doesn’t seem to be a possibility in this generation of Pixel phones. The phones will obviously run on the new version of the Android system which is Android Q with the base model having 64GB of storage.

Google wants to position its Pixel series phones as a challenger to the iPhone and to do that, some features like wireless charging and display innovation are very much needed. Recently, an image of a display protective cover appeared online. According to the source, the protective glass cover is designed for the Pixel 4 and the manufacturer has already started taking pre-orders for the same. The image shows a completely different display that sports a small cut out for a front camera.

Google Pixel 4 Price

Like many other smartphone makers, Google is also hiking the price of its Pixel series phones. If it follows past trends, we will see nearly $50 hike in the price of the new phones, which means the Pixel 4 price could go up to $850 and the Pixel 4 XL may retail for $950. It seems that there is less possibility of Pixel 4 price breaching the $1000 mark. The reason is simple. Both Apple and Samsung have a cheaper version of their flagship phones that costs around $750. If the rumors are true and Google doesn’t stick to its 2018 pricing plan, then we could see a cheaper model.

This is pretty much all we know about the Google Pixel 4. The good thing is Google has been generous about improving and updating older Pixel phones with new features and software support. Of course, some of the best features will likely arrive with the Pixel 4 and will remain exclusive to the Pixel 4 series. What do you expect from the Google Pixel 4 release?
