(ThyBlackMan.com) The iPhone 5G will arrive in 2020 or maybe later, but we could see a flood of 5G phones in 2019. Apple’s 5G phone will likely follow the trend its predecessors have set and the company will wait for others before committing to the new technology. The commonly held belief is that the iPhone usually aren’t the first to follow new smartphone trends as the company improves emerging technologies. Apple makes sure that the technology and its own methods of implementation are perfect before joining the bandwagon, but there’s a downside.

A WSJ report says that Apple delays products launch more than ever. Under Tim Cook’s leadership, delays between product announcement and shipping have doubled. The report highlights the facts suggesting how the AirPods and HomePods were delayed and how these incidents could affect the company’s business in the long run. Apple hasn’t promised anything about the iPhone 5G, so it’s unfair to say that the company is delaying the product’s launch, but looking at the bigger picture is really important.

Fans were hoping to see AirPods and HomePods during the festival season last year, but the company missed that opportunity. Today, HomePod is one of the least preferred smart speakers in the market. Although it’s performing slightly better than Google’s Home Max, it could do better if it didn’t miss the Christmas shopping season that time.

Remember that Apple was behind its competitors when others launched 3G and 4G LTE phones. The company took its tried and tested wait and see approach and didn’t release smartphones based on the new technologies of that time. This strategy helped Apple to perfect its devices for the emerging technology, but at the same time, it gave enough time to rivals to act fast and launch phones 3G and 4G phones. The longer time could potentially hurt Apple in many ways. It can also disappoint customers and as a result, some people wouldn’t mind switching from iOS to Android.

When it comes to making design and software related changes, coming late to the party is not a big deal, especially for a company like Apple. The slow road Apple takes disappoints some fans, but at the end of the day, the quality of experience they get from iPhones washes away all the traces of dissatisfaction. If Apple waits till 2020 for its iPhone 5G release, it would be one of the few companies who will wait longer than others. The new network technology is already in demand and there’s been a lot of hype around 5G. It is fast, more responsive and can handle multiple devices. It’s different than design and software changes. There’s a rising demand and if Apple takes the slow road, the decision could cost sales.

The good news for Apple is that 5G deployment will take time and it won’t be widespread in the beginning. Even in the US, 5G deployment will be limited, but we have seen how aggressively network carriers are promising 5G services for users in cities. Tech experts say that the technology will be easily available in most of the places by 2020. So if that happens, Apple will get more time and consumers won’t force Apple to talk more about its plans on 5G.

When Android smartphones were already offering 3G and 4G LTE connectivity options, Apple was silent and didn’t include the technology in its iPhones. Verizon was two years ahead of Apple when it launched its range of 4G smartphones. In 2017, Android users were talking about Gigabit LTE, but Apple asked its fans to wait and launched the iPhone 8, 8Plus, and the iPhone X without Gigabit LTE.

Today, the need for a fast connectivity is significantly higher than ever. People were eager to switch from 2G to 3G speed and then to 4G, but when it comes to 5G speed, people won’t mind being among the first ones to use the technology. When competitors will show their 5G phones, Apple will have to act fast because today’s customers are more informed. From software to hardware, there are many reasons to choose 5G.
