Arceus
If you know anything about the history of the pokemon world you will know that Arceus is the god of the pokemon universe and created the world we know as well as many of the legendary pokemon on this list. He is without a doubt the most powerful pokemon of all as he has the power to create life and worlds on his own. If you ever encounter one of these and catch one, it is some serious brownie points for you!
Mewtwo
Mewtwo is one of of the most famous legendary pokemon out there and if you have seen the first movie you’ll know all about this amazing creature. The background of Mewtwo is as a man-made attempt at cloning Mew, and due to this Mewtwo grew incredibly strong and is able to talk telepathically to humans as well as pokemon. This is a formidable foe who has incredibly strong psychic powers which allow it to compel people and pokemon to do its bidding. In the later generations you are able to use a Mega stone on Mewtwo and this makes it one of the most powerful pokemon in existence.
Rayquaza
Rayquaza is a stunning creature who appears as a large green snake and lives in the ozone layer of our planet watching over the world and making sure that Groudon and Kyoga don’t start fighting each other and destroying the landscape. This pokemon is a powerful fighter and it has the advantages of learning dragon, water and fire type moves which make it a great addition to any battle. You can also use a mega stone on this creature and it becomes the ultimate fighting machine.
Mew
Mew is a pokemon which has always been highly sought after in the games and it is one of the most adorable and powerful creatures you will ever encounter in the games. Mew is a great asset because it is the pokemon where all others come from, and therefore it acts as an open template which is able to take on any move set and any physical attribute to suit its needs. It is a powerful pokemon to have on your team and if you ever manage to catch one you should keep it close.
Dialga
Dialga is a legendary steel dragon type pokemon who alongside Giratina and Palkia it is the legendary pokemon of the Sinnoh region who represents time. What makes this dragon so powerful is the fact that he resides in a different dimension and controls the passage of time. He can slow down, speed up and stop time completely and of course this makes him an incredibly formidable pokemon to have in the game.
Reshriam
This pokemon is one which is a legendary pokemon of Generation 5 and is able to scorch the world with its tail and change the weather of the world within seconds, it is also a pokemon who will show up to any trainer who seeks the truth and allow them to become more powerful. It is a pokemon who has flying and dragon characteristics and therefore can be pretty strong in battles.
Zekrom
Zekrom is a pokemon which can sometimes be underestimated a little however it is a hugely powerful creature who is even able to suck the powers of Palkia, Giratina and Dialga and use this to its advantage in battles. It often hides in the clouds and is able to fly through the air with little effect of gravity. It can also fuse with Kyurem to create Black Kyurem who is another immensely strong creature.
Giratina
Giratina is a legendary pokemon who was actually banished from our world by Arceus for being too powerful, so this should serve as an idea of what kind of power this creature possesses. Giratina acts as the god of the underworld in a way and lives in another dimension to live out its days. In our world it represents gravity and is the most powerful of its trio.
Lugia
Lugia is a bird pokemon who was introduced in the earlier generations and is an incredibly powerful creature with many amazing abilities. Lugia is used by many of the best trainers because it is able to control pokemon battles and it has a wide range of moves it is able to learn, allowing it to be strong against most other types. It also has a secret ability called multi-scale which allows it to strengthen its stats to be much more difficult to defeat in battle.
Hoopa
Hoopa is a pokemon which you see and think ‘this guy will be easy to beat’… but you would be wrong, very wrong. Hoopa is a pokemon who is often seen wearing shackles to control its true power and it has the ability to teleport itself and other beings through space and it can be a pest in battle. And if you happen to unlock its Unbound from… lord help you all!
Zygarde
Zygarde is a strange pokemon which is made up of 100 identical Zygarde cells which count as 1% of its overall form. It has a few different forms depending on how many cells have fused together: including 10%, 50% and complete. If you ever encounter complete Zygarde it will be incredibly difficult to kill as it shows no mercy to its opponents and the surrounding world. It is hugely dangerous and a foe which will take a lot of muscle to overpower.
So these are some of the most powerful pokemon in the games. If you ever have the chance to catch one of these creatures and add it to your team, it is more than worth doing so!
