(ThyBlackMan.com) Dead or Alive 6 won’t feature Victor Donovan as a playable character. The game will bring a new girl and a new guy as in-game characters. Some of the characters will come with DLC packs after the game’s launch in early 2019. With many such details, Dead or Alive 6 director and producer Yohei Shimbori concluded an interview after Gamescom 2018.

Game developer Team Ninja Studio has introduced ten Dead or Alive 6 characters so far. Shimbori said that the studio is planning to add more characters and some of those characters might not be available at the time of the game’s release. He didn’t confirm the number of players for the final roster, but he did say that the studio is looking forward to adding many characters and some of them will be added as DLC after the game’s release.

Dead or Alive 6 will feature a triangle system in fights. It is based on three key elements called strikes, throws, and holds. These elements work in a pretty straightforward way – throws beat holds, holds beat strike, and strikes beat throws. If an opponent lends a throw and you try to strike, that move becomes Hi Counter attack and causes more damage. In simple terms, if your opponent is using a move and if you are using a superior move, you will receive the Hi Counter attack benefits.

Team Ninja Studio has also introduced a new break gauge system in Dead or Alive 6. According to Shimbori, this new feature is designed to make the game easier for new players. The break gauge system in Dead or Alive 6 helps players make special moves without having to spend time on learning so many commands. With just a single button, players can use special moves of their characters. There’s a visual bar in the game that appears in form of an attack meter. When the gauge is filled, players can use special moves with just a single press on a button.

Dead or Alive 6 will feature enhanced graphics on Sony’s PS4 Pro. Game director Yohei Shimbori said that there will be console-specific enhancements for the console which will be noticeably different than the graphics on the standard PS4 console. For Dead or Alive 6, game developers are using a new game engine. According to Shimbori, the DOA5 game engine was too old so they needed a new game engine that is capable of producing highly realistic visuals. He said that because of the game engine and its lighting aspects, the gameplay now looks more serious.

The sexier visual style of the previous DOA games doesn’t exist in Dead or Alive 6. Team Ninja Studio said that they took things bit too far in some of the previous games and for the VR version of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, they received strong criticism. So keeping all that in mind, the DOA6 is developed to be a more serious fighting game.

The game will feature destructible objects such as boxes and jars. Once destroyed, these items cannot regenerate so players might be using them to earn extra damage by pushing opponents on these items. The Hitomi and Leifang fight trailer gives us a glimpse of how mass destruction works in Dead or Alive 6. If these items remain unused by the player, opponents can use those destructible objects against the player. There’s a big ship called the Forbidden Fortune and there’s an octopus named Kraken that players can use to cause more damage to their opponent.

In Dead or Alive 6, players will be able to explore different types of stages. Some are calm and serene, while the others are packed with more action and entertainment. Just like every other DOA game, the crowd (in-game spectators) plays a major role in the upcoming game. For example, if you’re blown into the crowd by an opponent, the crowd will push you back. It will offer your opponent a great chance to attack because when spectators will push you back in the ring, you will lose balance and walk unsteadily.

Dead or Alive 6 will be available on the Xbox One and PS4. The game will be released in early 2019.
