(ThyBlackMan.com) The Nintendo Switch vs PS Vita comparison makes sense in many ways. First thing is they both are handheld consoles; the second thing is they came into existence to become a substitute to high-end home consoles. From games to performance and functionality, there’s a huge gap between the two consoles which is obvious, but there are times when both the console surprise gamers in many ways. Read on to know which is the right handheld console for gamers.

If you think that Switch is the most powerful handheld console because it’s new, wait for a moment and think again. There’s so much beyond their release dates.

Nintendo Switch vs PS Vita Games:

Sony PS Vita is a more mature platform. The Nintendo Switch is a new console arrived in 2017. The choice of games for Vita players is undoubtedly wide, while the Switch users still struggle to get new games. Nintendo is trying its best to deliver more content, but for PS Vita users, there’s no limit for content and with Sony’s online subscription service, a consistent flow of fresh content is always there. Nintendo has also started its own online services for the Switch and it’s free for a limited period of time because the company has nothing much to charge for.

At present, Nintendo Switch loses the war, but as we said that the Vita is a mature device and it is very near to its end, this is not the case with Switch. Nintendo’s console is growing and it features better hardware and display. It means that the developers can do more in terms of the games’ quality. PS Vita had this luxury, but today, it doesn’t have anything much. For average gamers, Nintendo Switch and its games are costly. If you check PS Vita games, you’ll find many games ranging between US$5-20.

Nintendo Switch vs PS Vita Performance:

When you’re comparing two devices from different times, the results are very obvious. The PS Vita comes with a 2210 mAh battery which is almost half of what Switch offers. The Nintendo Switch ships with a 4310 mAh battery which is 1.95x more than the Vita. Nintendo Switch tries to play the role of handheld and home consoles. You can carry it anywhere with you and play games, while it can also be used with a TV at home.

The new console comes with a large 6.2-inch screen that gives better resolution (1280 x 720px) than the PS Vita’s 5-inch display (960 x 544px). There’s a slight difference in the pixel density. The Switch features 6.79% higher pixel density.

Going deeper into their technical specifications really makes no sense because Nintendo Switch uses heavily customized Nvidia Tegra chip, while the PS Vita ARM-Cortex A9 4 core processor. It is very clear that both the devices are packed with hardware from different times.

Nintendo Switch vs PS Vita Features:

It has never been a battle of hardware. The most important thing is that these devices have different features that make them stand out. The PS Vita is considered as the little brother of the PS3. Additionally, it can stream PS4 games when connected to a Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it can never become what Sony wanted it to be. The Vita system remained plagued with issues and today, you won’t find it easily on store shelves.

On the other hand, Nintendo Switch takes the handheld gaming concept to the next level by allowing two detachable controllers to be combined and make one complete device you can carry anywhere. Just remove the controllers and connect the console to your TV with an HDMI cable to enjoy gaming directly on TV.

Nintendo Switch vs PS Vita Apps:

Both Sony and Nintendo tried their best to engage players on mobile applications. Sony launched several apps, and Nintendo has also released a mobile app for online voice chat. Practically, none of the solutions given by the two are close to perfection. There’s still a lot to be explored when it comes to user friendliness.
