(ThyBlackMan.com) Some people are saying that Huawei copied Apple with Honor V10, while others are saying that the Face ID and Animoji are not the technologies Apple originally invented. Who copies whom is a never-ending battle, and it’s not what we are going to discuss here. Recently, Huawei unveiled its 5.99-inch Honor V10 mobile phone with Kirin 970 processor. It is the same chip that powers Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. During the presentation, Huawei left fans stunned with two new features the company is working on – an improved facial recognition system and animated emojis.
Huawei has given facial recognition feature to the Honor V10 and the company claims that the 3D sensing technology is better than Apple’s Face ID feature. The company says that it is working on its technology to improve the features like Animoji and Face ID, while in the current state also, the features are powerful.
Before the end of the presentation, the company teased a depth-sensing camera system for face recognition. The camera system uses a projector and infrared to create a 3D map of user’s face. But what makes it stand out is the accuracy. The face recognition system by Huawei captures 300,000 points. It is 10 times more accurate than the face map created on the iPhone X.
At the time of launch, Huawei said that the system currently takes 10 seconds to rebuild the 3D model with highest possible accuracy. To unlock the phone using facial recognition system, the phone takes 0.4 seconds, while through fingerprint sensor, the time taken is 0.2 seconds. Huawei wants you to take advantage of secure financial transactions through a better facial recognition system. The company says that it is working on this 3D sensor to help users unlock not just the phone, but all the benefits the system can bring.
About animojis, Huawei claims that it will easily beat Apple here as its system is far better in terms of tracking details. In a graphical representation, Huawei showed that the sensors can even track your tongue’s movements, so whenever a user wants to give different looks to their emojis, they can easily do so with Huawei smartphones. Huawei has not added this technology to the Honor V10, and the company has not confirmed when the tech will be ready. There are chances that the company will integrate the feature only in the future smartphones or probably add it to some of the existing devices.
Huawei did the same with its face recognition system. The V10 supports facial recognition and fingerprint sensor, but the improved system is still not a part of the V10 smartphone. The company didn’t confirm the availability of the feature, but it has made it very clear that Huawei would have an answer to 3D face detection features available in the iPhone X.
So what the V10 actually brings to the users? The Honor V10 features a 5.99-inch LCD display with 78.6 percent screen-to-body ratio and 1080 x 2160 pixels display resolution. It runs on Kirin 970 processor that supports neural processing unit for enhanced AI experience. The device runs on the latest version of the Android operating system Oreo. With 64GB storage option, you get 4GB and 6GB RAM variants, while the 128GB variant is available with 6GB RAM.
The phone features a dual camera setup combining a 16MP and a 20 MP sensor. The front camera sports a 13MP sensor. Initially, the device will be available in China, and in the other regions including Europe and the U.S., it is expected to arrive sometime in December. The company has not confirmed the official launch date of the V10 in the U.S. region. The official price of the device in China is $400 and the device will be available in Aurora Blue, Beach Gold, Charm Red, and Night Black colors.
