(ThyBlackMan.com) The first seven seconds of your day can be the most important part of your life. A lot of people are defeated the moment they wake up on any given morning. Why? Because they have unwittingly conspired in the wiring of their brain to create an unspoken and subconscious reality.

Did you know it is totally within your power to wire your day for success in the first seven seconds of consciousness? Here’s how.

A “brain hack” is a strategy or way of thinking that’s adapted to manage one’s brain and therefore one’s daily experiences in a more efficient manner. It does not mean that our experiences will follow a hewn path, but rather it gives one a more creative approach for handling the success and failure that inevitably come with each brand-new day.

Do not lose the day the minute your eyes open – seize it and believe it! Here are four brain hacks to bring that closer to reality.

Hack#One

Condition the Brain

The first step involves how you go to sleep – your frame of mind – at night. Everything is conditioning. From tests to music to religion, we’re being conditioned daily on an astounding level. So why not apply the same technique to your sleep experience? Studies show that, essentially, as goes your brain at night, so goes it during the day. In other words, if you go to bed negative, worried and stressed, chances are you will wake up to more of the same. Tonight, condition your brain for success! One effective way of accomplishing this is to monitor what you view at night close to bedtime. Minimize your intake of the late local news – which specializes in murder, mayhem and misery. Surround your environment with happy, positive people and experiences. Do not bring you job home with you. And certainly don’t take it bed with you!

Hack#Two

Eliminate Snooze

Of the four hacks listed, this is probably the most important because it involves true willpower. Most sleep experts say snoozing does not result in feeling more rested. In fact, it’s the opposite that happens, according to sleep research studies. It has much to do with when our sleep cycles begin and when they are interrupted, according to the evidence. The beginning of our sleep cycle is the worst time to be awakened. Even more, according to professor and behavioral economist Dan Ariely, by hitting the snooze button repeatedly, we are training our minds to be confused by the alarm sound – creating a behavior that can continue indefinitely. The verdict is that hitting the snooze button creates more sleepiness than restfulness. So get up the moment the alarm sounds!

Hack#Three

Envision the Possible

Once willpower trumps the morning, it’s time to dream. What is Les Brown’s two-worded antidote for doubt and disbelief in one’s dreams? “It’s possible!” Make these two words part and parcel your vocabulary. Immediately upon awakening, envision what’s possible for your day. This is made all the more easier if you’ve followed hack one. Does something sound or look unattainable? It’s possible! Do you wish to launch your own business? It’s possible! Do you desire to love and be loved? It’s possible! But you must believe it to be so and you must form that belief – each day you awaken – in the first seven seconds of consciousness. Make that first thought a positive one! Think the possible!

Hack#Four

Recite a Morning Mantra

After you see it, speak it! A mantra is a statement or slogan repeated frequently. It’s a Hindu word often used to aid concentration during meditation. For the brain, it’s a powerful tool. When you awaken, speak the positive into your morning. Make a mantra the first words that leave your mouth – in the first seven seconds of consciousness. Keep it simple and short. “I am a winner! “I am powerful!” “I can do all things through Christ!” Note that a mantra usually begins with the preposition ‘I’. It begins the person who has been given the tool to seize the day!

The first seven seconds of your day can be the most important part of your life. Do not lose the day the minute your eyes open – seize it and believe it.
