(ThyBlackMan.com) The newly launched Huawei P10 smartphone continues where the last year’s P9 left. After the P10 Plus launch, many interested buyers have questions about the differences between the two phones. If you look at the P10 vs. P10 Plus battle, you will not find any significant changes in the feature, but there are still some differences that are expected to alter your buying decision.
So, if you are confused and struggling to choose the right one between the two, here’s an analysis and a complete Huawei P10 review to help you choose the best Android smartphone this summer.
Specifications & Features
If you are planning an upgrade from P9 to P10, go for it because as expected, the phone pretty much features improvements in almost all the aspects. Performance, display quality, design and the camera setup are highly improved. The phone features almost similar dimensions (5.72 x 2.73 x 0.28 inches) as the last year’s P9.
The hyper diamond-cut finish on the backside of the phone is something you’ll see for the first time on a smartphone. It looks like a metal foil and also gives Huawei’s P10 a sturdy and classy look. Turn the phone and you’ll find a 5.1-inch NEO LCD touch screen with corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It’s a solid smartphone that gives you 1080 x 1920 pixels display resolution with approximately 432 ppi. The display is as good as the iPhone 7’s display, which is bright and contrasty.
In the P10, you get a USB C-Port for charging, but expect the data transfer speed limited to USB 2.0 only. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack. The sim slot on the dual sim model may disappoint you because you can only put either a microSD card or a sim card in the slot. You can’t use them both at the same time.
Just like many other Huawei phones, the P10 smartphone comes with knuckle gestures support for smart screenshot, drawing and split-screen gesture, which can be easily turned on or off. The smartphone runs on Android N and additionally, it brings some new features such as running some apps simultaneously so that you can access two accounts. You also get a setting option where you can change the overall appearance by switching between different looks.
There’s just a single stereo speaker available in the phone, so it may disappoint you if you listen to music without earphones. One of the Huawei P10 features include battery optimization for background apps. But despite several optimizations, the 3200mAh battery of the phone somehow manages to last for a day (don’t expect more). HiSilicon’s Kirin 960, which is said to hit Qualcomm and Samsung badly, powers the P10 smartphone and is the best in class.
The dual camera setup in the back features 20MP and 12MP cameras. If you are a selfie expert, the 8 megapixel front camera won’t disappoint you. Based on your use and knowledge of photography, you can capture stunning shots with these cameras as there are plenty of settings available for you.
Huawei P10 vs. P10 Plus
There’s nothing much unique to look for in the P10 Plus, but it comes equipped with a bigger display of 5.5-inch and is obviously little heavier than the P10. The phone is flash resistant and comes with 3750mAh battery which is better than the one you find in the P10 smartphone. But don’t forget that the bigger display eats up more battery power.
Available in 4GB and 6GB RAM options, the P10 Plus gives you double storage capacity (64/128GB), while the P10 phone comes with 4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage options.
Price
Since the price of the smartphones change every day, and you can even find some good Huawei P10 deals, it is better you check for offers if you are interested in buying. The announced price for P10 and P10 Plus are US$685 and $738 respectively.
The Verdict
If you’re really planning to buy a classy yet powerful smartphone this year, you can buy Huawei’s P10 without thinking too much. The only reasons you should go for P10 Plus are storage options, better RAM and a bigger display.
As far as the competition in the market is concerned, if you buy the P10 smartphone, your decision will be a smart decision because at this price range, the phone features almost everything you need.
