(ThyBlackMan.com) During Fitbit’s quarterly earnings call, CEO and co-founder James Park said that Fitbit Smartwatch release is on track. Earlier, there were many reports claiming that the company is facing production issues, which is causing a delay in the smartwatch launch. But finally, Parks shot down such rumors. However the event was just about Fitbit’s financial reports, but the company took it to another level by sharing some details about Fitbit’s next smartwatch.
The management has never been vocal about the future of its smartwatch product line, but during the event, the company shared its desires. For those who are waiting for details about Fitbit Smartwatch features, specification, release date and price announcement, the company said that the next watch is going to give an “amazing interactive experience” to users.
Additionally, Fitbit also confirmed that the experience will be weaved through its social networking features in the new Smartwatch. The device will also feature long battery life than its predecessors. So if rumors about the smartwatch release delay were bugging you, Park says that the business is ‘going as planned.’ Fitbit seems to be very optimistic with its smartwatch lineup of products and Park also mentioned the same during the company’s earnings call.
As far as the financial reports are concerned, the first quarter of 2017 shows a boost of 14% in the company’s stock. The company sold 3 million Fitbit units till the end of March 2017. The company reported a 15 cents per share loss on its revenue of US$299. Earlier, the analysts were predicted that the company will likely suffer 18 cent per share loss and calculated a revenue of total US$279. Fitbit has undoubtedly performed far better than the expectations of industry analysts and the company also issued its full-year revenue guidance of US$1.5 billion to US$1.7 billion.
Release details of Fitbit’s Smartwatch are still under wrap, and many analysts have given a neutral rating on the company’s revenue for the coming months due to this reason. Since there’s no release window confirmed by Fitbit, the outcomes will largely depend on the market scenario and the competition.
It is very clear that Fitbit is now aiming to compete against Apple with a strong product line. The company has shot down the rumors about the release delay, but left everyone clueless about the release schedule. Fitbit reiterated that it will launch the smartwatch later this year, but the timing will play a crucial role in its success. If Fitbit is planning to compete with Apple Watch, there are high chances that the release date of the two products will fall in the same buying season.
A few days ago, a leaked image of Fitbit Smartwatch specifications also surfaced on the internet. If the image of is something to go by, the device won’t stand up against the new version of the Apple Watch. Rumored specifications of Fitbit’s smartwatch suggest that it will look like a combination of Pebble Smartwatch and Fitbit Blaze.
A report by Yahoo Finance claims that someone from Fitbit who already saw the product design in development said that it doesn’t look appealing. About the smartwatch specifications, a few details are revealed by the insiders. The Fitbit Smartwatch will reportedly sport a heart rate monitor, GPS and a color display similar to the Apple Watch 2 Series. Regarding the battery life related claims by Fitbit CEO, the report strengthens the fact that the smartwatch will last for 4 days after a full charge. Eventually, people will be able to check out the new specs here so they can decide whether this particular model is going to be for them.
Overall, the company is not in the mood to reveal everything at this point and this strategy somehow strengthens the claims insiders have made about the Fitbit Smartwatch features, limitations and specifications. Even if the reports turn out to be false, analysts are still waiting for some concrete announcements from the company because to some extent, fitness tracker market is saturated and even if there’s a scope for new products, it would be tough for Fitbit’s Smartwatch to take away attention from the well-established players. It is only possible if the company introduces something groundbreaking with the upcoming Smartwatch.

Seems like Fitbit is looking to tap into a different market. One has to realize there is room for another player in the smartwatch arena.
I could see myself sporting a Fitbit Smartwatch. I believe the success of this watch will all depend price. Samsung & Apple determine to stay premium, so there is a market for mid range smart watches. (aka… price wise)
