She is a recording artist, producer, activist, businesswoman, philanthropist, fashion designer and actress – is big in the new this week because I am living in ground zero for all Lady Gaga news.
SXSW – Austin, Texas
Out of Austin, Texas this just in is that Lady Gaga will not be able to perform as a giant Doritos vending machine at the SXSW concert stage. The city refused to grant her a permit citing the 28 year old performance was cancelled by the city due to “public safety concerns” reported Aceshowbiz.
Local authorities think the location is not able to accommodate Gaga’s legends of fans. Don Pitts, manager of the Austin Music and Entertainment division stated that the city had concluded it just wasn’t safe. However, Pitts added that Lady Gaga could still perform this year at SXSW if she could manage to find a more established venue with the necessary 
permanent infrastructure.
Meeting the Press
Lady Gaga took a break from the studio her white blond hair flowing and heeled shoes that were sky high on last Wednesday evening in Hollywood. The superstar announced that yes the entertainer was deprived of a permit allowing her to do her show in a great Doritos vending machine at SXSW coming up soon this month.
Doritos Stage
This Doritos Stage is an outdoor venue that is constructed in an Italian restaurant parking lot and is made to look as a giant vending machine. For the past two years, this giant vending machine has been in the parking lot of Carmelo’s Italian Restaurant and has hosted L.L Cool J, Ice Cube and Public Enemy.
City Says
Don Pitts told Austin 360 that the city looked at the location covered by the permit that was being sought and how it fits with the anticipated attendance and in the end cancelled the permit.
But something tells me that Lady Gaga will not be denied and in the end will find a venue that will host her and the show will be crazy as ever.
Gaga Got the Water for This Venue
After all this is the same entertainer who wanted to film music video at San Simeon’s Hearst Castle State Monument which would require the temporarily refilling of the emptied and leaky Neptune Pool. Gaga agreed to donate $250,000 to the castle foundation to help to fix those leaks and funded a $25,000 water stabilization study and also would star in a PSA. Lady Gaga is a perfect example of “where there is a will, there is a way”.
The Deal Was Made
California Gov. Jerry Brown took the time to write her a public thank you note, apparently figuring that the state needed all the help it could get in this 500 year drought.
There is a Drought in Texas Also
Lady Gaga would not be stopped. In the end perhaps Lady Gaga wouldn’t be the only person able to see that in California’s current crisis an opportunity. Some experts are hoping that Californians will embrace the chance to wean them off of the antiquated water system and are pushed into the technology and protocols of the 21st Century.
So, in the city of Austin’s permit refusal, my money in the end is that Lady Gaga will end up in the Diorites vending machine. This area is also in an historic drought.
