(ThyBlackMan.com) Well it’s final. Nicki Minaj will be a judge on American Idol. After all of the negotiations and back and forth everything is sealed and confirmed. We have all heard that R & B Pop singer, Mariah Carey was not happy with this choice. Obviously she still is not on board with having another female judge, especially the young and more widely popular Nick Minaj on board.
I’m sure that many were waiting for the first fight to bread out. Well it didn’t take long. According to the NY Daily News. Newly minted judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj couldn’t even make it through the first taping of the upcoming season of American Idol without clashing.
As Nicki Minaj started to critique a contestant, she would reportedly be interrupted regularly by her pop diva rival during Sunday’s auditions in New York City. That caused the 29-year-old rapper to keep talking louder and louder to drown out Carey, 42, according to the report.
“These girls just don’t like each other,” an inside source told the gossip site. The two are part of a new-look judges panel for the Fox singing competition show that features country crooner Keith Urban and sole returnee Randy Jackson.
Well Mariah Carey should be happy with one thing. It seems that Nicki Minaj won’t be getting paid the same as her. Lawd if that were to happen Mariah would have ripped some heads off.
It’s being said that Nicki Minaj is getting $12 million for a one-year deal on the hit Fox singing series. The AP reported in July that Carey is receiving just shy of $18 million for a one-year contract with a renewal option.
Some folks are asking if letting the two divas loose in the same room is a good idea. Will this be the best season of American Idol or an epic flop? Well what do you think? If the American Idol fans and lovers of reality television have anything to do with it, this year definitely will not be a flop.
The newbies have a tough act to follow taking over for Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, who exited early this summer after serving for the last two seasons. We thought that Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were a mess. I think lots of viewers will tune in more to see Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey go at it. Can we say cat fight?
American Idol were struggling to keep their ratings respectable against the other big dogs, X Factor and The Voice. With two divas sitting on the judging panel they may do pretty good this year and give the others a run for their money.
