(ThyBlackMan.comI don’t know about you, but when it comes to food, sweets are my weakness. I love cake the most. In fact, I am thinking about cupcakes as I type (the very mention of it). Over the years, I have learned to not give in to the impulses I feel by finding alternatives that still satisfy my sweet tooth. This is the key to weaning yourself from answering the urge every time it calls.

For those who seem to search high and low to find ways to help them lose weight, it can feel depriving to totally cut out sweets. I am of the belief that the best way to achieve weight loss goals is to not always get rid of things, but instead to replace them. It will take time and it will take effort, but with both, you can certainly find ways to still enjoy foods and not feel so guilty every time your sweet tooth hits.

So, if you are struggling to kick the sweets habit, here are some options to try the next time you want some cake. See, I did it again!

Banana Soft Serve

This one is my favorite. It is super simple to make and tastes like ice cream. I peel my bananas first and then freeze them because it can be pretty hard trying to do so after the fact. Put them in a blender with some unsweetened coconut or almond milk and blend. It will give you an ice cream like texture. You can top it with nuts or even other fruit. It’s delicious!

Baked Apples

Take apples and cut them into triangles. Coat them with a sugar substitute like Stevia as well as some cinnamon and nutmeg. Bake them in the oven 350 until they are soft. You can then top them with some plain Greek yogurt, sweetened with raw honey. Drizzle it on the apples, add some shaved almonds and you have a satisfying treat.

Parfaits

Another great one that is super easy to make, parfaits are fun because you can add whatever you want to them. I use plain Greek yogurt, sweetened with raw honey. Do this to taste. I then add chopped bananas and strawberries. I top it all off with low in sugar granola. If you want, you can forgo the granola and choose a nut mixture. It’s up to you.

Oatmeal Cookies

If you like cookies, this is the simplest recipe. All you need are rolled oats, a sugar substitute, eggs, whole wheat, and coconut oil. Throw in some nuts and vanilla and even some cinnamon and you have an absolutely to die for batch of cookies. See the recipe here for instructions.

The key to most things in life is to find a way to make them work for you. When you are watching your diet, it doesn’t have to be a drag and you don’t have to sacrifice the good for the boring. Try these super easy recipes and get hooked!
