(ThyBlackMan.com) Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! offered new content and information about the franchise, and many fans are waiting for Borderlands 3 release. When the studio released Pre-Sequel title in the series, there was no clue about the future of the franchise. Many fans started believing that the studio is now busy in development of Battleborn and there is nothing left for the Borderlands franchise.

Luckily, fan wishes will soon come true as the Gearbox Studio head Randy Pitchford confirmed that 90 percent of the studio’s team is now working on B3. The CEO of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick also confirmed that a ‘big game’ is in development and is expected to arrive sometime during the 2019 fiscal year. Zelnick didn’t reveal the name of the title, but as Pitchford confirmed that the new game after Battleborn will be Borderlands 3, it is now clear that the developers will surely bring the game.

During the studio’s “Inside Gearbox Software” panel at PAX West, Pitchford said that Gearbox is now a publisher. He said that he can’t speak much about the game until the game reaches the announcement phase. He clearly mentioned that 90% of the workforce at the studio is working on the game fans want from them, but he doesn’t want to invite any trouble for himself by sharing any specific details about the game.

Although the developers and publisher say that they don’t want to speak much about the game, during GDC 2017, Gearbox Software brought a tech demo on stage. The studio wanted to show its technology with Unreal Engine 4, and Pitchford said that what he was showing was the demonstration of technology and not the video game, but he also said that the technology will be powering the next Borderlands game.

The video of the tech demo is available on Twitch and other channels like YouTube. If you’ll watch the video, you will observe that the graphics and artwork feature the unique style of Borderlands. Visuals shown by the developer are exactly how we expect Borderlands 3 to look like. Gearbox is planning to use Unreal Engine 4 to develop the game. In this way, the studio will be able to deliver more realistic graphics and the environment in the game will look more natural. The game’s development using a new game engine is obviously more complex than before. Pitchford said that the game will be “massive”, so we can expect that the studio will require a lot of time to complete it.

As far as the game’s story is concerned, the studio has confirmed that it will bring old characters in the new game. More specifically, when Pitchford was asked by a fan about the existence of Tiny Tina in the new game, Pitchford said: “I’m curious to see how she changes after growing up several years.”

It is very clear that events in the new game will take place after several years from the events that took place in the previous title. The original Borderlands game was released in 2009 and in 2012 the studio released Borderlands 2. 2K Australia released Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! In 2014 and just after a year, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection was released that served as a compilation and port of the previously launched titles from the franchise. Some spin-off titles were also released during the last couple of years, but Borderlands 3 still remains away from store shelves.

There are high chances that the game will appear after E3 2018. It is fair to believe that we are still months away from the official release announcement. In September, the studio confirmed that they are no longer working on any future updates for their last year’s Battleborn game. Gearbox has not revealed whether the game will be named “Borderlands 3” or the studio is planning to give it a new name. The studio has also not revealed which platform the upcoming game will support.
