( In the case of the Oneplus 5 vs LG G6 purchase, the most common question from smartphone enthusiasts can’t be answered like “it depends.” There are some significant perks and drawbacks with both the phones, but most of them are subjective and it is really not easy to decide on one since both are available around the US$500 price range.

Oneplus 5 vs LG G6: Design, Specs, Features & Performance

If the design is your concern, Oneplus 5 doesn’t bring anything new in terms of design aspects. The device is slim and looks similar to many other phones with curved edges and a fingerprint sensor on the front. The LG G6 is attractive and more attractive than the Oneplus 5. The combination of glass and metal and narrowed bezel make it look different. Despite the phone is slightly bigger than the Oneplus 5, it looks more comfortable in hand.

The Oneplus 5 disappoints in terms of display quality. Keeping the price in mind, the manufacturer has given AMOLED panel and the 5.5-inch display is complemented with a 1080p screen. You get excellent contrast and colors on the panel but the LG G6 is undoubtedly a winner here. Higher resolution and better picture quality with Quad HD panel give the 5.7-inch beast a competitive edge. The LCD panel and mobile HDR support make the device stand out.

The LG G6 and Oneplus 5 run Android 7 Nougat. Since the operating system has been heavily customized by the developers of the respective companies, there are quite a few significant differences in their functionalities. Overall, the LG G6 gives you better interface and using the device appears to be easier. LG has slightly gone the iOS way by keeping your favorite apps on the home screen. The phone gives you an option to enable or disable the app drawer. The Oneplus 5 follows its standard approach and swiping up gives you the ability to check the downloaded apps.

The winner of the Oneplus 5 vs LG G6 camera quality battle is surprisingly the cheaper one.

Oneplus never had good cameras in its phones and even when they did have some, there were no significant improvements. The OnePlus 5 has got great cameras and beats the LG G6 and puts many other top smartphones to shame. The phone features two 16MP cameras as the primary setup and a 16MP secondary camera. On the other hand, the LG G6 brings 13MP and 5MP cameras as the primary and secondary cameras respectively.

The OnePlus comes with 64GB of storage capacity and 6GB of RAM as standard and the LG G6 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM. You can get the Oneplus 5 in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and here the device leaves the G6 far behind.

On the hardware front, the Oneplus 5 comes with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8. On the other hand, LG G6 runs on the last year’s Snapdragon 821. Both the devices run smoothly during heavy gaming and multitasking, so you are not going to face any lag issues in any of them. Since the Oneplus 5 is more powerful in terms of specs, it appears to be faster when you use the phone for a long time.

Oneplus 5 vs LG G6: The Verdict

If you’re choosing Oneplus 5, you’ll not get some very basic functional perks including water resistance, microSD card slot, but if you can compromise, you get a new, faster processor, more RAM and better quality camera setup on the phone. On the other hand, if you are planning to choose the LG G6, it is a good device but for the price range. If you still not able to make a choice after the Oneplus 5 vs LG G6 comparison, why don’t you check the Samsung Galaxy S8 or iPhone 7?

You can scratch the lack of water resistance form the one plus 5. There are plenty videos on the tube displaying that ability.

Thanks for the comparison. I have had my eye on the LG G6.
