(ThyBlackMan.com) The seventh of the seven feasts (appointed times or moadim) that God gave to Israel is the Feast of Tabernacles. It started out as the feast that commemorates the time in the wilderness that God dwelled with Israel while they were at Mt. Sinai and while they roamed about. We find it spoken of in the Bible, such as is found in Leviticus chapter 23:
33 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord.
35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
The eighth day of the Feast is like a period being put at the end of a sentence, marking the end of a phrase or complete thought. But let us first explain the history behind the seven days.
The Hebrew name for the feast is Sukkot. It is also called the Feast of Booths. This all began at Mt. Sinai, when the children of Israel (Jacob) journeyed from Egypt and rested in tents for about two months from about the time that God first spoke to them, and while Moses was on the top of Mt. Sinai with God. This was a special period of time when Yehovah was “dwelling” with His people. Therefore, the Feast of Sukkot commemorates Yehovah being in the presence of Israel, the initial time of dwelling in tents for more than
a day during the time of travel, and the gathering of the harvest once Israel settled into the Promised Land. Sukkot was associated with the Fall harvest, becoming known as the “Feast of Ingathering”, being at the end of the growing season
The Feast of Tabernacles is the only appointed time that Yeshua fulfills twice, since He is both “Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. During His life on Earth, He is mostly regarded as only fulfilling the Spring feasts, which are Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, and Pentecost or Feast of Weeks. What is forgotten is that Jesus also fulfilled the very meaning of “God with us”, as prophesied by Isaiah.
Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Now, the explanation for that is found in Matthew chapter 1.
Matthew 1:18-25
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
What that verse is saying is that before they ever consummated their marriage with intercourse, Mary was already pregnant with Jesus.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Yeshua: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Yeshua.
The name Yeshua means “Yehovah is our salvation”. There is no “J” letter or sound in Hebrew. It’s more like a “Ya” sound. We also should read John 1:14, which says:
John 1:14
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of Yehovah,) full of grace and truth.
The seven day feast of booths or tabernacles commemorates the time that God was dwelling with Israel at Mt. Sinai. It was on the beginning of the first day of this feast, which was actually in the evening after sundown, when Yeshua was born, on September 26, 3 BC, in Bethlehem. This was the first fulfilling of the feast of tabernacles, called Sukkot. On the eighth day of the feast, and of the life of baby Jesus, he was circumcised. It is also called “the last great day”.
Yeshua will fulfill the feast again upon His third coming, 1000 years after His second coming. The so called “second coming”, is when the rapture of the saints takes place, and the anti-Christ and false prophet are the first ones cast into the Lake of Fire. Also, at his third coming is the White Throne Judgment. It is unknown at this time if the saints will be judging both the angels and the remainder of mankind, or if the saints will only judge angels and demons, and Yeshua alone will judge the remainder of mankind. I’m guessing that
the interval between Yeshua’s third coming and the end of the Judgment might be 500 years. I don’t know, I’m just making an educated guess, based on there being ten days from the Day of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement, signifying that each day equals 100 years. That is the period of time of the 1,000 years of peace
on Earth, when Satan is bound and the saints are in Heaven.
Getting back to Sukkot, in preparation for the yearly Feast, adult males were required to make a temporary shelter called a booth or sukkah. It is a hut constructed under the open sky, where if it rained, it would fall directed on it. It can’t be positioned under a tree or patio, but it can be attached to the side of a building, using the building as a fourth wall.
This is what Joseph had to do after arriving in Bethlehem with Mary. Since he could not travel very quickly with Mary, since she was about to give birth, he was late arriving in town. All the motel rooms were taken earlier by the wives of the other men that had traveled there. The women aren’t required to stay in the hut, but the men are. So when Joseph couldn’t find a room for Mary, she had to stay with him while he quickly constructed a sukkah for himself, Mary, and the coming newborn child.
They stayed outdoors. This contradicts the Catholic falsehood that Yeshua was born on December 25th, in the winter, when it is very cold. That is pagan sun god worship. Joseph arrived in Bethlehem about the afternoon of September 24th, couldn’t find a room for his wife, then began constructing the sukkah in time for the start of the moadim of Tabernacles, on September 26, 3 BC, when Mary was in labor, and delivered her first of five children, right after sundown, which began the “appointed time”.
At Christmas time, at least in the United States, where someone puts up a nativity scene, or you see an artist’s rendering of the event, do you see little baby Jesus in a barn or cave, lying in a trough, filled with hay, and barn animals standing around? This is the Western gentile misconception of the birth of Jesus. First, Yeshua was not born in a barn, stable, or a cave. Neither was he lying in what we call “a manger”.
A manger, or trough, is a structure used to hold food to feed animals. The word manger originally referred to a feed-trough, but it may also be used to refer to a water-trough. Mangers are generally found at stables and farmhouses. A manger is generally made of either stone or wood or metal, and are mostly used in livestock
raising.
A major stumbling block to gentles is that King James I of England did not have the wisdom to have the KJV Bible translated by Jews into English. It was foolish and self-defeating to have gentles, no matter how educated and intelligent, translate the writing of Jews, who were the ones that God revealed Himself to.
It was the job of the Jews to convey to the rest of the world who Yehovah was, and was not the job of any gentles. Therefore, much of the Jewish culture was not conveyed. More on this in Part 7C.
