(ThyBlackMan.com) Cam Newton, whose real name is Cameron Jerrell Newton is an American football player. He plays the quarterback position for Carolina Panthers in the NFL. Born in May 11, 1989, Newton has been playing football for most of his life. It started when he was still in college at Auburn. This is where he talent was noticed which led to him being drafted as the first overall pick by Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL draft.

As a young player, Cam Newton has achieved a lot. Some of these achievements include the following:

· He is the only player in this modern era to be awarded the Heisman Trophy within a year, be pick 1#.

· He is also the first to win a national championship and also become Cam Newtonthe first overall pick in any NFL draft.

· He was also named the 2011 NFL rookie of the year.

· He is a 3-time pro-Bowler and was named the NFL 2015 all pro first team.

As a rookie, Cam Newton broke an all-time NFL record for passing and rushing. One of the most notable ones is when he threw about 400 yards in his initial game. This shattered the previous record of Peyton Manning’s first-game which was about 280 yards. Cam Newton also broke a 61-year old record of Otto Graham for passing yards in any given quarterback NFL debut. He also became the first ever rookie quarterback to throw over 4,000 yards in a season. As a rookie, he is also known to have run for 700 yards and have 14 touchdowns more in a single season than any other known quarterback in the NFL. This broke the 35-year old Steve Grogan’s record.

In 2015, Cam Newton became the first quarterback in the NFL history to rush for 10 touchdowns and throw for over 30 in the same season. He is also the first known quarterback to have 300 yards in passing, 5 touchdown passes and more than 100 yards rushing in a single game. In the last game of the 2015-16 NFL season, Cam Newton tied a record of having the most career rushing touchdowns as a quarterback, a record that was held by only Steve Young. An interesting fact however is that while Young achieved it in 15 seasons, Cam Newton did it in 5.

At just 26 years, it is an understatement to say that Cam Newton is an accomplished player. Cam Newton continues to play for Carolina Panthers and all that one can do is wish him well and hope that he breaks more records and he sets new ones in future.
