(ThyBlackMan.com) A person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so. The definition of an entrepreneur. Nowadays, the word is thrown around loosely and widely, a sort of blanket, or umbrella term for business people. But there is a huge difference between running and operating a business you created from your living room, and leading a team of other eager sales people or even running or helping to make decisions for someone else’s company (think manager). I recently questioned my colleague and co-host of our The Hotrepreneurs podcast, Clean Green 360 Founder, Josue Suazo. In our chat I asked him to outline six steps you can take in order to create a successful business from the ground up. Below are his six steps with an extra thrown in for good measure.

1. Mind set. I think in anything you do, have the right thoughts boggling around in the head is paramount. Nothing good can or will be attained with a stained mental game. Mind set is so simple, yet underdeveloped sometimes, and usually overlooked.

2. Clear vision. Knowing what you and your company set out to do from the beginning will be key in order to market properly and to share your vision not only with employees but with customers and potential customers. Having an unclear vision will only set up future roadblocks when the passion for starting a new business begins to wear off and the nitty-gritty is now upon you.

3. Determination. Something you can’t teach his determination. Busywork can often be described are looked at as hard work which couldn’t be further from the truth. Determination is waking up when you really don’t feel like it taken care of a sick baby working your 9-to-5 and then coming home and working throughout the night on your “side business” until it becomes your full-time business. It takes determination and a proper mindset to Continuously work out the kinks of a new business until it is up and running and successful. The amount of work you put into your business will be a direct reflection of its success.

4. Plan. Everything we do in life is based on a plan. How will we plan and that plan and then execute on that plan will be a determining factor for all the success we have or fail to have in life and in business.

5. Your why. World renowned motivational speaker Eric Thomas often talks about your why and today knowing the reason are the passion behind your business is almost more vital then anything else. When times get tough and they will get tough it is your why that should and can keep you motivated and thriving and moving towards optimal success and earnings.

6. Execution on said plan. How do you execute on a great plan? You said benchmarks. You set timelines. You hold yourself accountable. You have other people around you who are also great leaders and entrepreneurs and business people to also hold you accountable. Without execution all these great things listed above mean absolutely nothing. And who doesn’t want to follow through after putting in so much great time and effort and money to create a successful business.

This conversation was so great that Josue threw in one last key to building a business from the ground up and that key was a great marketing strategy. Today marketing can be built in so many different fashions and in my opinion for far less money than traditional marketing from let’s say the 60s 70s 80s or even 90s. Because of technology and the various free resources that are around the Internet I believe that building a great marketing strategy is more simple and more affordable than many people might think. Resources like Facebook and Instagram and Twitter are all free ways to advertise and market to customers and potential customers and to solidify your brand out in the world. With that being said there are many more resources for your competitors as well so keep that in mind when building upon your marketing strategies.

In conclusion, Josue believes having the clear plan and defined vision for your business are vital. “It’s the roadmap to grow from.” Having built his own company over the last several years in the city of New Orleans, from the living room to hiring dozens of employees, and expanding to other regions, be on the lookout for business leader and serial entrepreneur Josue Suazo.
