(ThyBlackMan.com) As a man, young or old, you should consider being concerned with the state of your skin.  Many men seem like they could care less about the state their skin.  With the (insert favorite sport) season just starting up, who has time to worry about skincare?

If you plan on going down to the bar to catch a game with your friends, you should consider the tips below and do your best to look good.  Hey, you never know when you are going to meet the Mrs. right?  We should all know by now that women want a man who takes care of himself and puts some effort into his appearance.

Cleansing

Cleansing is an essential part of everyday skin care. Even just using soap and water is better than using nothing at all, but be mindful that hand soap is designed for use on hands. Hand soaps are designed to be “tough” on germs and are very harsh. Feel your hands. I don’t think anyone wants a face that feels like that. Why not try something new?

Consider going to your local pharmacy and have a look around. Or if you are too embarrassed and you already have a partner, I’m sure she would be happy to pick something up for you. Even if you don’t have someone in your life that can help, you can always ask someone in the store for assistance. It doesn’t really matter if they work there or not. There are many products available, and there is sure to be something right for you.  Try to find something with minimal fragrance, so you aren’t overpowering the ladies with your various scents. Also be mindful of the type of skin that you have (oily, dry, medium) so that you can choose the best cleanser for you.

Shaving

Shaving is another thing that men often don’t give much thought to although they should. Not knowing how to properly shave the skin on your face can lead to razor cuts, ingrown hairs, rough and uneven bumpy skin, etc. It would be best to shave properly to keep your skin smooth and your self-esteem in tack.

Always use a warm washcloth on your face before you shave.  This will soften the hairs and allow your pores to open up.  And before you shave, make sure you have a good razor. Disposable razors should be disposed of once and for all!  There are a number of new razors on the market that will provide you with a good, close shave.  Be sure to use a quality shaving cream or gel, and to moisturize when you are done.

Moisture

Moisture is very important for your skin, especially on your face. Consider moisturizing your face even on days that you do not shave. Moisturizing your faces keeps your skin and lips from cracking and actually protects your skin from the Sun, depending on the kind of moisturizer you use. When you moisturize your face it keeps your face from looking ashy and provides your face with a healthy glow that changes the way that people interact with you. Have you ever saw a person with a pleasant face (because men rarely pay attention to “moisture”) and then the next day their face is ashy and cracked? Did you react to them differently? You probably even reacted right now as you read this, don’t be that guy.

You should want to take care of your face for you. Other people being attracted to it should be a plus. Not to mention that when you clean your face it provides relaxation and revitalizes you. Try it today when you are tired, get up and go wash your face. A lot can be told about a person by their appearance, put your best skin forward.
