Games like Outlast 2, Resident Evil 7, Friday The 13th: The Game, and The Evil Within 2 took us to mysterious locations. In the New Year, we are expecting some more horror games to arrive and below you will find a list of the best horror games of 2018.
Agony
One of the most gruesome games, Agony puts players in the depths of Hell with a twist. The character doesn’t remember anything about the past but thankfully there are some abilities that help him survive. Players will be able to possess and control martyrs and 
higher demons in the game. There’s so much more than just hiding from demons. You will need to hold your breath if you want to keep demons away. You will need to solve puzzles and collect statues in order to unlock new areas and keep moving.
Allison Road
This first-person horror game is one of the spookiest games you’ll ever see. The game’s development journey was on bumpy roads but finally, it is coming. Developers have not revealed much information about the game but the studio has confirmed that the gameplay of Allison Road will be similar to that of P.T. Watch its official intro video and you’ll realize why we count it as one of the best horror games of 2018.
Hunt: Showdown
Crytek’s upcoming PC horror game Hunt: Showdown is full of spooky elements. Releasing for PC, the game not only features NPC enemies, but it also brings other players against you and you can fight with all of them. What’s more interesting is that your goal is not only just yours because many other players are also chasing it at the same time and if you’re not careful, you will be knocked down at any time.
Moons of Madness
Inspired by Lovecraft, Moons of Madness is a first-person psychological horror game which is different than the typical survival horror games. The term ‘lovecraftian horror’ suggests that instead of gore and element of shock, the game will focus more on the cosmic horror of the unknown. Players start the game as an astronaut Shane Newehart who is experiencing internal struggles and witnessing some supernatural events. He is one of the members at the first scientific outpost on the Mars known as Trailblazer Alpha.
Scorn
If you’re looking for the best horror games of 2018, check Scorn because it is an amazing entry. It is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game which is set in a spooky universe. The game is designed in a way that the idea of “being thrown into the world” will be fairly justified. The game features different regions and all of them are interconnected. The game will be released this year.
Routine
It is a non-linear, first-person survival horror game which is set on a Moon Base called “Lunar Research Station“. The game will feature procedurally generated environments in an 80s vision. Players will explore the base and uncover some shocking truth. To reveal the strange disappearance of crew members from this abandoned base, players will have to use their survival techniques to stay alive.
State of Decay 2
The sequel to the State of Decay offers you one more chance to immerse yourself in a multiplayer zombie survival game. The game is not about a single character as it lets players play as a community and each survivor will be having their own mix of skills, traits, and abilities to do things in certain ways. So, players will be fighting random dynamic zombies and human opponents in State of Decay 2.
System Shock
A team of industry veterans is working on System Shock, a remake of the 1994 horror game with the same name. The team of developers includes people who worked on Fallout: New Vegas, BioShock, and Mass Effect, for this reboot. The developers have confirmed that players will take on the role of a hacker and will run for their lives in the Citadel Station. The game will also feature a rogue AI named SHODAN.
