(ThyBlackMan.com) Shadow of The Tomb Raider is possibly the name of a new Tomb Raider game announced by Square Enix. The publisher, in a Twitter post, confirmed that the game will be available soon after the official announcement. The fun will begin with a major event in 2018. Square Enix didn’t specifically talk about the event, but it is safe to assume that the announcement will be made at E3 2018. And there are chances that the company will reveal release details when the Tomb Raider movie launches in March 2018.
A new Tomb Raider game means many questions that need to be answered. The first and the most important thing is whether the game will be available on all the platforms from the day one, or it will be a timed exclusive title for the Xbox One. The previous game, Rise of The Tomb Raider was Xbox One exclusive at the time of launch and later it arrived on Sony PlayStation 4. The game garnered a positive response from critics. Everyone praised the game’s 
graphics, characterization, and gameplay. The Rise of The Tomb Raider has sold 7 million copies as of November 2017. The game also received additional content after release. When the game ends, it shows a map which is possibly a hint about the upcoming game’s setting.
Those who have played the Rise of the Tomb Raider may have noticed a map at the end of the game. The map suggests that the next adventure of Lara will start in Mayan culture. Reports claim that the Tomb Raider game will be set in Egypt, Aztec or Mayan age. Some leaked images show logo art and some images feature Lara Croft in the Egypt-like setting. The images show the game’s character holding different weapons including sword, spear, knife, ropes, and bow. There are many guesses about where the game will take us, but nothing’s set in stone.
We still don’t know which studio is working on the game. The information coming from different sources suggest that the game is being developed by Eidos Montreal. It is the studio that worked on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Thief. Some reports also claim that Crystal Dynamics is not working on the game this time, but according to the Twitter post by the game’s official account, the studio along with Eidos Montreal is working on Avengers game, and the duo will likely work together on the new Tomb Raider game.
Last year in October, someone spotted a glimpse of the game on a subway in Montreal. The image suggests that the new Tomb Raider game will be titled “Shadow of the Tomb Raider”. Square Enix didn’t comment on the leak and even Crystal Dynamics is not speaking about its involvement in the game. If you notice the latest announcement, the first word of each sentence together form the word “Shadow” which is indicating that Square Enix has purposefully framed the statement in this way.
So you can put all the leaked information and evidence together and wait for a new announcement. Don’t be surprised if Square Enix confirms the game’s official name and says that you will be able to play the game on all the platforms from the first day of launch. The developer said that they are taking “a different approach”. If you start assuming, these words can drive you in many directions. We can assume that the game will not be timed exclusive on any console, and we can also assume that this time, the developers are also planning a Nintendo Switch version of the new Tomb Raider game. Everything is possible.
We’ve seen Lara Croft going everywhere from real-world location to the mythological Norse world. After traveling to so many locations, it would be interesting to see where the franchise will go in search of a new adventure for Lara. Apart from the location, what challenges players will face is also a secret many fans want to uncover as soon as possible.
