(ThyBlackMan.com) The Motorola Moto E4 is one of the cheapest smartphones available today. An unlocked unit costs US$130 and if you can tolerate Amazon Prime’s advertising on the lock screen, all you need to spend is US$99. Still not convinced? Grab a Moto E4 from Verizon with a plan and pay just US$70. How ridiculously cheap it is. Unfortunately, for Motorola, there are too many competitors offering budget phones with above average hardware, features, and design. So now when you know that the Moto E4 is really cheap, should you buy one? Read on to know why you should and why you should not.

It’s a feature-packed phone

The Motorola Moto E4 runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1, has a front-mounted fingerprint sensor, features 5-inch IPS LCD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and oleophobic coating. Overall, the phone comes with many things you can’t expect from many other phones available in the same range.

It’s capable too

The phone is not bad. It comes equipped with a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor and a Mali-T720 GPU. The device is powered by 2GB of RAM and comes with 16GB of internal storage which you can expand through a microSD card of up to 128GB. There’s a 5 MP snapper as its secondary camera and the primary camera is 8MP with LED-flash. The phone comes with a removable 2800 mAh battery that gives enough power.

It’s beautiful

The Motorola Moto E4 is really the best-looking budget phone available in the market. It comes in Iron Grey, Blush Gold, and Oxford Blue colors. You can see that the phone follows the footsteps of many flagship phones from rivals. The device comes in 5.70 x 2.85 x 0.37-inch size, and its corners are slightly curved. On its back side, you’ll find the textured finish that makes the phone look great.

It’s cheap and it screams

Low-cost phone from a company like Motorola means several compromises. The phone screams out loud about its price and it shows that it is cheap. The processor is really slow. Not the worst, but not the best you can get in this much money. Apps sometimes take pretty long time to load and if you love gaming too much, just like many other phones with 2GB RAM, Moto E4 will also disappoint you because sometimes, it can freeze. Another factor which can be a deal breaker is the display quality. The display is average, and you’ll struggle to see when in sunlight. Keep the brightness level high before you step out. The phone’s camera performs better than expected. You can expect better photos from the Motorola Moto E4 if you compare it with its rival J3 from Samsung.

The quality of images you can expect from 8MP and a 5MP camera is fair. What’s bad on the camera is its processing capabilities. Sometimes, the phone goes sluggish while processing the shots.

Is it worth buying?

Yes, it is a good budget phone. For the price, Motorola’s Moto E4 brings everything and even more than one can expect. It is a good-looking impressive phone. The performance is not the best, but you will not find major issues since the hardware is capable enough of handling applications. If you can stay away from very heavy gaming, the device really doesn’t have any serious problems and you can easily go for it. The Motorola Moto E4 won’t disappoint you for the given price tag. If your budget allows, you can check other phones including Nokia 6 and G5 Plus as they are slightly more powerful and come packed with better hardware and features.
