(ThyBlackMan.com) There are some pretty intelligent men and women out there. They’re full of good ideas and know that they can turn those ideas into a viable business if they can get the funding together and get started. However, running a business depends on much more than just intelligence, ideas, and funding. In fact, one of the most important factors is barely mentioned. It’s energy. If you don’t have the energy to turn your thoughts into reality, then there’s only so far you can go. Below, we put together a few ideas to ensure your business doesn’t stall because of lethargy.
Start the Day Right
How we start the day defines how the rest of it will go. If we’re getting up late, hurriedly getting ready, then rushing out the house, then we’re not going to be in the right frame of mind. We’re not going to have the energy to succeed, either. In the morning you should be going through a routine that gets you awake, alert, and ready to tackle the day. Opt for an oatmeal based breakfast and a fruit smoothy; you’ll be bursting through the company doors with gusto.
Topping Up ‘Throughout The Day
We all know the mid-morning and mid-afternoon slump. We’ll be working hard, making progress, and then suddenly our hard work will catch up with us, and we’ll feel drained of energy. To feel pumped up throughout the day, you should be taking regular breaks and sipping on brain-boosting beverages, like Monster Energy drinks. During lunchtime, avoid eating foods that will zap energy, such as bread based meals and the like. You’ll be able to work right through to the end of the day, just as alert as in the morning.
Leisure Time
You’re not always at work, but what you do during your ‘free time’ will naturally feed into how much energy you have at work. If you spend too many late nights socializing, then eventually it’ll catch up with you. Instead of hitting happy hour, opt for activities that give you more energy, like going to the gym or hitting the running trail. These activities also have the bonus of giving you time to think through any problems you’ve been turning over in your mind throughout the day.
Well Rested
OK, we know it might not be the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s extra important that you get a good night’s sleep. If you’re going to bed late and rising early, you’ll only be able to last so long. Have a relaxing evening, with minimal screen time (tech can disrupt our sleep quality), and hit the hay at a reasonable hour.
Earning a Break
There’ll come a time when you feel tired no matter what you do. This is your body’s way of telling you that you need to take an extended break. If you needed an excuse to leave your business in the hands of your employees and spend a week at the beach, then this is it. You’ll come back ready and motivated to work hard.
