(ThyBlackMan.com) From HTC One to HTC 10 and now HTC U11, the Taiwanese company has tried many ways to differentiate their devices every year. For the rest of the phone that include performance, camera, display size and build quality, the 10 appeared to be the best device the company has made in years.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that the phone is perfect, but it is true that the phone deserved a lot more attention than what it actually received. If you call it one of the most underrated phones of 2016, there wouldn’t be any surprise from tech enthusiasts.
Now when the HTC U11 has arrived with a silly gimmick, it seems that choosing an HTC 10 is a better option. The 10 predecessor brings sensitive areas, “Edge Sense” on its sides. The edges are capable of sensing the pressure. As a result, you can perform various assigned tasks by simply putting pressure on the edges. Of course, HTC has a big vision for its Edge Sense technology, but many of the U11 users are not going to really care about it and the feature will remain ignored for obvious reasons.
When it comes to the 10, it’s sad that HTC couldn’t effectively market and sell one of the best smartphones of 2016. The one year old 10 is still a beautiful-looking phone, and features one of the best designs we saw in 2016. There’s no doubt about its build quality, as it feels premium and comfortable in hand.
With the 10, the manufacturer made one very big change compared to its predecessors. Now here’s the big change: with the 10, HTC introduced a single front speaker and a woofer at the bottom. In the previous models, the dual front-facing speakers were embraced by HTC. This was quite a big change and it really worked well for the company. Almost everyone who reviewed HTC 10 praised the audio quality the phone offers. Another good thing was keeping the headphone jack which is absent in the U11.
Even when the phone is one year old, the performance of the phone is still good. HTC has released many software updates in the last several months, but the phone works smoothly after all such updates. The Snapdragon 820 is not the best and the fastest processor today, but it is powerful enough to keep the phone responsive and fast.
In the HTC U11, the company has not made any significant changes to the device’s camera. Before launching the 10, the company struggled a lot to make better camera phones, and if you remember the attempts made for its predecessors, it was very clear that HTC didn’t use the technology fans were expecting from the smartphone manufacturer.
The 10 brought drastic changes in terms of camera quality that even led many people to believe that HTC 10 was having the best camera when compared with its rivals from Samsung and LG.
From many points of view, the U11 predecessor looks fantastic, and technically, it is one of the smartphones launched last year which are worth buying even in 2017. The phone has been tested on many fronts and even when the current generation phones are offering new things, it stands strong and doesn’t lack many features you see in the latest smartphones.
The device deserves to be purchased and those who prefer a classy phone with metal build and premium design, the 10 is undoubtedly a great option. Now when the company is moving forward with Edge Sense technology and so much more, it seems that the things are going to be changed drastically, and we are certainly going to miss the 10, a phone that never got what it actually deserves. Anyone willing to buy a phone can go for HTC 10 without a doubt. Sprint has reduced the device’s price to US$240, which is significantly lower than the launch price and also lower than the price of the U11.

I agree, the 10 was and still is very underrated. One of the best parts is it’s still getting updates before many other phones. I have the unlocked version on T-Mobile and couldn’t be happier.
HTC 10 is still a go. One doesn’t always have to pick up the latest, greatest smartphone that hits the market. This device definitely can be ones daily driver.
