(ThyBlackMan.com) Samsung recently introduced Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ confirming April 2017 release. The successors of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are feature-rich. But is it worth buying or upgrading to the new Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus?
Here, we are not going to focus on the Galaxy S8 vs. Galaxy S7 war or anything similar to that. Instead of focusing on the list of common features, which is pretty much available everywhere, here’s something more important everyone should know about.
Samsung Galaxy S8: The Good, Bad & Ugly
Choosing the new Galaxy S8 or S8+ phone can be a wise decision, but not for everyone and in every case. The only thing that makes a major difference is the display. However, several changes and improvements ranging from design to integral components have been made, but nothing significant is there to be excited about.
As far as the display is concerned, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ respectively feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. If you compare the sizes and display quality with their predecessors, S7 and S7 Edge feature 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch Quad HD display respectively.
So, when it comes to the display size and quality, the newly launched phones appear to be a good choice as they also support HDR which is being used by the service providers such as Netflix and Amazon. Meaning that if your first preference is big-screen entertainment, going for S8 or S8+ is a good idea.
You can observe that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are launched at a price tag which is US$100 more than the original launch price of S7 and S8 Edge. So, is it worth paying this much just for big display? Is it worth bearing the inconvenience of keeping a giant in hand when keeping a 5.5-inch phone in pocket sometimes causes discomfort?
If you agree that a 6.2-inch or 5.8-inch display size can be an inconvenient affair, there’s no other strong reason to buy Samsung Galaxy S8 because it only has just 0.3-inch bigger screen than S7 Edge.
At present, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are available at almost half of the price of the new Galaxy S8 series phones. So, buying them doesn’t make you smart as you will be paying double the amount for a bigger display.
Some fans might argue that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have a lot more than what their predecessors have to offer. The support for artificial intelligence through Bixby, 10% faster CPU and extra storage space are the features that make it different and improved. But there is nothing groundbreaking, as you still get 4 GB RAM and the camera is also the same with no significant improvements.
When it comes to battery life, Galaxy S8 and S8+ will drain quickly because the battery is the same as S7 and S7 Edge. Samsung hasn’t cared about providing a bigger battery even when the company has increased the screen size. It is a well-known fact that the display is one of the major battery drainer. So, you cannot expect S8 and S8+ to last long if you were expecting so.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ stand tall against many smartphones and also give some reasons to go for an upgrade. The devices are really better for those who prefer productivity over everything else as the phones feature the support for Samsung DeX which is probably never going to happen with S7 Edge.
Conclusion
Choosing a phone is undoubtedly a tiring process. Whenever these companies launch something new, fans expect the devices to feature highly innovative technology. The new Galaxy S8 series phones offer a great deal of innovative features, but you need to be very specific when you choose to buy this phone.
Reasons To Buy Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+
Artificial intelligence Support (Bixby)
Bigger Display
Improved Security (Iris Scanning)
Capture 360 degree or VR
Faster processor and GPU
Other than the abovementioned reasons, there is nothing significant to spend money on. Collectively, these features make the phone a smart choice at this moment, but if you have specific needs and care about getting more out of your bucks, it is better to drop the plan of buying Samsung Galaxy S8 this year and wait for the next generation as Samsung has reportedly started working on Galaxy S9 series phones. However, if you have fallen in love with Samsung Galaxy S8 you can pre-register the phone on the company’s official website.
