(ThyBlackMan.com) Sage Steele, the bi-racial ESPN anchor is asking Black folks to be more accepting and less critical of her. Apparently the backlash from her previous statements hasn’t sat well with the entire race, and she wants us all to do better. Steele stated during a recent faith forum in Florida that the worst racism she’s received as a biracial TV personality has been from “people with my skin color. Sage Steele commented on hypocrisy in the black community while moderating the Feb. 16 “Under Our Skin” forum at The Crossing Church in Tampa.

Sage Steele said,“The worst racism that I have received [as a biracial woman married to white man], and I mean thousands and thousands over the years, is from black people, who in my mind [I] thought would be the most accepting because there has been that experience,” she continued. “But even as recent as the last couple of weeks, the words that I have had thrown at me I can’t repeat here and it’s 99 percent from people with my skin color. But if a white person said those words to me, what would happen?”

First and foremost Black People, African Americans, Brown people, People of Color, Negros, insert politically correct word for Black folks here______ cannot be racist! Black people do not have the POWER to be racist in a White, excuse me Caucasian world. Also why do WE, Black people ALWAYS have to be so forgiving and most accepting of other races ?

Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy also chimed in and stated, “I totally agree with you,” he told Mrs. Steele. “We can’t expect everybody else play by certain rules and we don’t. We can’t expect to treat people wrongly and not expect people to treat us wrongly. I think it’s got to start with us in our families and spread out. We live in a culture where you are either there or you’re there but you can’t acknowledge the truth of either one. You can’t say that, ‘Yes, folks. We need our daddies at home. We need you to do your job.’ We can’t also then say, ‘It’s also messed up that white families have a net worth that is 14 times what black families [have].’ Can we say both? Can both be true? Yes.”

Steele also said, “There are times that I believe that we, as African-Americans, can be hypocritical, and that is to not look ourselves in the mirror when we are saying certain things and blaming other groups for one thing when we are doing the exact same thing.

While no one is debating Steele’s personal experience, she needs to stop debating other Black people’s narratives as well. She is always spewing negative comments and attitude towards Black people. That cannot be overlooked. Also just because a Black person calls another out, does not mean they are racists, that’s called ACCOUNTABILITY. It seems whenever there is an issue that involves race, she makes it a point to make Black people look like racists or bad people. But it’s hard to look at yourself in the mirror and point at your own mistakes. As Sage Steele has a hard time doing.
