(ThyBlackMan.com) Previously, I mentioned it would be awesome to see a Durant-Westbrook alley-oop again. I guess when you speak energy into existence, it happens. Kevin Durant started tonight’s All-Star game while his former teammate, Russell Westbrook, patiently waited to be subbed in. Once Westbrook was called into action, all eyes turned onto how the two former teammates would interact with each other. After a few turnovers on each end of the court, it didn’t take long before the two-man connection wanted around the world finally happened.
It’s great to see the two connect for a play they’ve made numerous of times. But, it should also let us know how we must try to keep things in perspective. As we all know, Durant left Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. The vast majority of sports fans agree with Russell Westbrook’s behavior toward Kevin Durant, believing Durant is weak for joining a team that technically speaking, didn’t need him. But, we must keep in mind that it’s just sports. People make moves all the time, and we shouldn’t have allowed this to go on the way it did.
Possibly, candid time spent tonight can help repair their relationship. Should Kevin Durant have discussed his move with Westbrook? Yes. Could Durant have discussed his move with Westbrook? Yes, but obviously it didn’t happen. Only thing we as fans and they as former teammates can do, is move forward.
On the flip side, we can hope that Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook can be paired up again tonight. The alley-oop the two connected on will be replayed tonight and for the next few days. Hopefully as aforementioned, more highlights from the two can come up tonight. If so, may their friendship be repaired.
