(ThyBlackMan.com) In the mid to late sixties, during the height of racial discord, tension and violence; social change was paramount. Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were publicly assassinated. Law enforcement agencies, including, but not limited to, COINTELPRO, FBI and local police were intentionally, deliberately and premeditatedly stunting and/or eliminating the growth and development of Black life.
In response to these genocidal attacks, several grass root organizations were formed, including, but not limited to, BLA, BPP, and the Crips. The latter, astronomically defined as the Community Reform Interparty Service, was birthed by a youthful lot of good hearted boys who sincerely believed that it was of utmost 
importance that they create a uniformed body of persons to protect themselves, community members, and personal properties from deadly assaults and brazen attacks fueled by a domestic social structure fostered with ingrained prejudices, volatile hatred, and barbaric ignorance.
Unfortunately, rarely does a good deed remain unpunished. A few bad apples joined the Crips and used the organization as a shield to hide their criminal undertakings; i.e., drugs, murder, extortion, etc. Consequently, the group separated into sects; and, several media outlets exploited the criminal aspect of the organization and vilified it across the nation. Thus, here we are today.
Although my mind and heart mourns with millions of Americans over the senseless killings of members of law enforcement, I think it is incumbent upon all of us to pave paths that do not lead to death and destruction. As I pray for the families of fallen officers; I, too, pray that the police arrest, punish, imprison, fire, and rid itself of its bad apples.
For example, this writer vigorously disagrees with NYPD’s, PBA’s President, Patrick Lynch. Patrick said that Mayor DeBlasio has blood upon his hands. Mr. Lynch needs to understand that the Mayor was elected by millions of New Yorkers, not thirty some odd thousand police officers; therefore, he is no more responsible for the deaths of the slain cops than he is for the unwarranted murders of Eric Garner, Akai Gurley and scores of others.
In fact, until the NYPD’s bad apples are removed by dismissal and/or imprisonment, it is appearing more gang-like and cultish than any disorganized group of gun toting thugs. I mean to uniformly embarrass, humiliate and shun the city’s highest ranking, duly elected public official is in total contrast to a sworn oath to protect and serve the needs and wants of every tax paying voter of said city. In furtherance, PBA President Patrick and his Lynch mob doesn’t have the power to ALLOW people to peacefully protest. It is a constitutional right awarded to all Americans. Only criminal organizations such as terrorists, extortionists and gangsters allow or disallow activities with a looming threat of pain, punishment or death.
In conclusion, if the NYPD doesn’t clean house, they most certainly run the risk of being America’s newest gangsters and/or domestic terrorists.
