(ThyBlackMan.com) As NBA fans continuously debate the best basketball players, the whitening of the NBA, and whether or not the NBA is actually a rigged institution; I, a native New Yorker, is still debating whether bringing Jeremy Lin aka.. Lin-sanity back to the Tri-state area is synonymous to doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result.
Lin-sanity was born Jeremy Shu-How in 1988. His birthplace is Torrence, California. In 2010, he graduated from Harvard University; yet remained one of the NBA’s undrafted. As some obscure point, he was picked up by his hometown Golden State Warriors. He was then shipped overseas. Two years later, in what initially appeared to most as a publicity stunt, Jeremy Shu-How inked a deal with the New York Knickerbockers.
Many skeptics believed it was a marketing strategy targeting the growing number of New York’s Asian population. The Knicks were having a mediocre year. In short, they weren’t going anywhere. They shipped a few aging ball players from the west coast. It was called “The Reconstuction Period.”
Ironically, the Knickerbocker’s head coach, Mike D’Antonio, implemented his west coast, fast-paced, defenseless style run and shoot basketball. Almost magically, Jeremy Lin aka.. Lin-sanity found himself in a point guard’s haven. Yes, Lin-sanity was an East coast point being coached by a West coast gun slinger. Shit! He almost immediately had a break out game against the then New Jersey Nets. Lin played 36 minutes, scored 25 points, assisted 7 buckets, and even grabbed five rebounds. From that moment, it appeared as if basketball fans went Lin-sane!
He was also fortunate enough to have Carmelo Anthony, who migrated from Denver, as one target; and Amare Stoudermire, who dribbled over from Phoenix, as the other bulls’ eye. The Cinderella-like Knicks had a ball. Jeremy Lin aka… Lin-sanity went crazy. With Carmelo and Amare garnishing so much attention, defenses were too preoccupied with the power-couple, that they weren’t truly able to expose the flaws in Jeremy Lin aka.. Lin-sanity’s ball handling abilities.
Nowadays, he’s more of a journeyman and side show entertainment as opposed to a Native Golden State Warrior who can rescue Brooklyn from that Net that seem to have snagged all championship possibilities and hopes.
Or maybe I’m just Lin-Sane! Either way, as a New Yorker, I very much appreciated the side show. It was certainly more entertaining than the ongoing circus of ball bouncers who were under-performing and making New York sport fans Lin-sane.

My understanding reading your piece is that Linsanity happened because of Carmelo and Amare.
Boy, Oh boy, how bias can you be.
Linsanity happened because of the absence of Melo the ball hog on the court. But you would never mention that, will you? Lin have to fight prejudice in NBA for a spot to play. It’s guys like you made his life unnecessarily tough off the court.
