(ThyBlackMan.com) David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie is one of those few rock stars from the sixties who didn’t fade away with time or become a slave of ever changing global music scene. A fiercely bold songwriter, way ahead of his times, he has rediscovered himself time and again and has made a name of his own amongst the legends.

After having started off recording for The King Bees, The Mannish Boys and The Lower Third, David Jones became David Bowie in 1966 with the release of his first own recording. Having worked independently till 1969, he had gained quite a fan following and then, days before the launch of Apollo 11, amidst the space race to reach the moon; he released his eccentric solo Space Oddity. It reached UK’s top 5 and took the world by a storm. A cult was born.

David Bowie androgynous appearance, quirky music and bold 2016-DavidBowiesongwriting became very popular. Having established himself as a solo artist, David Bowie experimented a lot with his music and churned out some timeless compositions like the man who sold the world and heroes.

David Bowie soon ended up re-launching himself as Ziggy Stardust (In Spiders from Mars), a stage avatar he took which looked like a crazy Martian rock star. This worked very well and his solo numbers in the top charts was enough to substantiate that. But it is said that he gradually became so obsessed with the character Ziggy Stardust that he had to put an end to that act.

David Bowie then relocated to the States for a period of time where he continued churning out super hit songs gradually rising to a number one position with Fame, which he co-wrote with John Lennon. He kept reinventing himself, delivering hits and experimenting with music.

From soul, to funk to electronic – from UK, to USA, to Berlin, he always found something new to do and managed to maintain his oddity. David Bowie breathed his last on 10th January 2016, couple of days after the release of his latest album Blackstar which was later revealed to have his swan song, or parting song for his fans.
