(ThyBlackMan.com) A lot has been written about Eminem over the course of his career. While many facts of his life are well publicized others aren’t as widely known. For example, not everyone knows that Eminem was first struck with inspiration for his character of Slim Shady and was so excited by the idea he reportedly called every single person he knew to tell them.
The Slim Shady character helped propel the career of Eminem and got him attention from those in the music industry as well as fans. He had been familiar with rap music since he was nine years old, when he heard his first rap song, “Reckless,” that was recorded by Ice T. The Beastie Boys also served as the inspiration behind his desire to become a rap artist in his own right.
Even just over one year after his debut album sold millions of copies he reportedly lived a modest life that too many other musicians on his level would never have settled for. This could partly be because he came from such humble beginnings that the day his first album was released he was still paying for the trailer he lived in.
Having fathered a daughter named Hailie, Eminem had a job working at a lodge, which he was fired from just days before Christmas. As Christmas Day was also his daughter’s birthday he was inspired to write his song “Rock Bottom” based on the fact that all he had to his name was $40. Eminem’s daughter has since blossomed into a beautiful young woman.
Though he tried to make a good impression on his fans there were times during his career where he allegedly threatened to shoot fans who showed up at his doorstep uninvited.
Prior to his move from his hometown in Michigan to Los Angeles, California Eminem had fallen on such hard times that in 1997 he was evicted from his own apartment less than 24 hours away from the Rap Olympics. He was so desperate for a place to sleep that night that he had no choice but to sleep on the floor of his now empty apartment, even though it was illegal for him to do so.
Despite the fact that his career moved full speed ahead for years, for half of a year he stopped writing and performing rap music when he became the victim of a burglar for the fifth time.
Once he was on his feet financially and his rap career was going well, he promptly bought and sold his first house. The entire reason he sold it is because there was a pool in the backyard and his fans would simply park in his driveway and use his pool.
Eminem has always battled an addiction to drugs and this is reportedly the reason why he now avoids touring a lot. This is due to the fact that touring regularly for an extended period of time makes him more susceptible to caving to his addiction.
The Real Slim Shady is a man few know.

Eminem never actually lived in a trailer. He said it himself, he had a house IN a trailer park.
