(ThyBlackMan.com) So I been gone for a week. …Well not really, I guess Brother Calvin either sees how prophetic my views of The White Double Standard are and he sees what I see and wants to wait until the apparent acquittal of Darren Wilson for the murder of Mike Brown. Yeah they’re preparing us for it by pushing numerous distractions to portray they Black Man as an immediate threat to justify the senseless murder of unarmed Black Men. Behold the “Street Harassment Video“.
A video where some white lady ,dressed in spandex, supposedly walked around Gentrified Harlem for 10 hours with her boyfriend filming with a hidden camera. Now the first sketchy thing I found was after “supposedly” filming for 10 hours and “supposedly receiving over 100 comments from men of “all ethnicities” they only managed to have 1 minute and 57 seconds of Black men saying what most would consider to be complements. Save for the occasional “Daaaammmnnn!!!”, most people were saying “hello” to a stranger walking through their community they consider attractive or was just plain being friendly.
Either way it warranted the question ,was the problem actually what was said or who was saying it? Judging from the way she dodged the question of “Why was it only men of color in the video?”, it was probably the latter. The next suspect thing nobody seems to want to say is what kind of boyfriend follows his Lady filming, looking for men to say and do things to make her feel uncomfortable or intimidated?!?! Ladies if you come home from work and tell your man you were harassed and his response is to follow you with a camera , YOU NEED A MAN because you obviously don’t have one . Well in her defense she said “boy-friend“, which if you break it down word by word in the most negative sense that would be the most accurate definition.
This latest attempt to demonize Black Men who say hello to women outside of their race, I hope will serve as a wake up call to brothers who think Obama being elected means we are all of a sudden on an equal playing field. But it also takes the spotlight off of street harassment and the Real Victims of street harassment.
Sanford,Florida a young man is walking home from a 7-11 with Iced Tea and Skittles he is then followed by a fake security guard and killed, despite having no weapon and every right to be where he was at that time. Even though he was told by police not to follow the young man when he called to make a report he continued to follow a kid in the dark because he thought he was a stranger. If following people and making them feel uncomfortable is a form of street harassment , we can charge Zimmermann with that too.
Harlem, N.Y. two men where engaged in an altercation, a good Samaritan broke up the fight,as stated by observers. After which the man who broke up the fight was approached by NYPD and accused of selling cigarettes, although no one was arrested or seen buying a cigarette. The gentleman, who obviously had a run in with these guys before, stated he did not sell any cigarettes and he was tired of constantly being harassed by New York police officers for no reason.
Despite the fact that everything he said was true and selling one cigarette should not warrant an arrest, police officers attempted to arrest him and subsequently choked him to death by using an illegal choke hold. Despite the whole incident being on video we still have not heard the fate of the murdering officer.
Minneapolis, Minnesota, a young man working with a nonprofit organization attempting to help register people to vote took a picture with the mayor of the city. In a playful jester the young man and the mayor posed pointing index fingers at each other as if to say this is the guy doing all the work and this is the woman doing all the work. The picture was immediately scandalized as the mayor and a young black man throwing up gang signs, this belief was backed up by the police department.
With a former officer and spokesperson saying that” this is terrible for the police she’s putting police in danger by showing solidarity with gangs”?!!? Also the local news ran the story saying that the young man was in a gang although he wasn’t and saying that he was a convicted felon as if that makes you unredeemable in society. Despite this young man serving his time, keeping out of trouble and trying to do something positive, like helping his fellow Americans register to vote even when he can’t ,his face and name has been put out in the news and slandered.
Ferguson, Missouri, two young men are told by a police officer to “Get the f#ck out of the street!”. When the response wasn’t to his satisfaction the police officer slapped his car in reverse, snatched one of the teens and a struggle ensued the cop pulled his gun and shot the teenager. As they began running away the cop left his vehicle and began shooting and firing at the unarmed teen. Killing him for walking in the street.
I almost started to do a street harassment video kinda like a Dave Chappelle style, where I would film myself walking out of the house one day as a black man and show how people clutch their purses when I walk by, lock their doors on their cars when I cross the street ,follow me around any store that I go in despite me having money, asked for cigarettes over 40 times a day and I do not smoke, asked for change at every establishment I try to walk to, or how if im walking the police will stop me and ask me “where I’m going?” for no damn reason.
I thought long and hard about Lampooning the obvious racism and bias shown by the makers of the Faux Street Harassment Video as well the police and average citizens. But when you think about Jordan Davis or Oscar Grant it doesn’t seem at all funny when you think about “stop and frisk” and who it targets you know that Street Harassment is legal depending on who’s being harassed and who is doing the harassing. So while Jewish-White ladies keep complaining about how many Brothers say hi to them….. Why don’t you go talk to Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Navell Gordon , and a host of other true victims of street harassment and Media Bias and see how it effects Us and how it could turn out deadly, especially if you are a Black Man.
So folks who are upset by this street harassment agenda and says it isn’t real, on the contrary my friend, it is truly real and extremely dangerous it’s just that the wrong people are being accused of the harassment and the harasser is making claims of being harassed.

We all know harassment is real but I wonder if you get harassed because of your confrontational and ignorant attitude and approach. I am sure you defend Sandra Bland’s approach but she had no chance of winning. And only an unwise person undertakes a battle in a way you are sure to lose.
You are online misleading people yet again with your foolishness and thus you make things worse in the black community. I do not agree with ANY street harassment but you again do not know the law in most cases and so you consider it harassment.
Your problem should be with police policies and those who create or oversee them. But have you attended any city council meetings? Yeah right. Have you run for any office or even gone to your city councilman to hold him/her accountable?
You do not understand the law. Therefore you speak from a point of ignorance. You do not understand Guilt Laden Factors, Reasonable Suspicion or Probable Cause. And before you try to put words in my mouth, I did not say I agree with the law – but it is the law until it is changed.
You offer nothing productive in this article. Nor do you ever seem to have real solutions. And you don’t seem to have the maturity to understand that you walk away from some things. You don’t know how to battle and that makes you unwise.
Complementing isnt harassment. True harassment is stopping by a local atm at a nearby shopping mall and the police pointing their guns at you saying you fit the description of a home invader because I have snow suit on and its below twenty degrees outside in the early morning. Then threatening to call my employer to have me fired because I didnt comply to their questions that was up to their I standards.
sisters stay tuned for the follow-up part 2 sincerely, The Author
