(ThyBlackMan.com) Everyone knows about the fight between the rapper T.I. and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. The two got into their infamous brawl over TI’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and their “little incident” at a Fatburger restaurant. Apparently, T.I.’s jealousy is strong enough to make him try to punch the greatest figher on the planet, which made me cock my head a bit in confusion.
But jealousy can make us do stupid things, and some of these stupid things can cost us our mental health, our freedom, our money and even our lives. T.I., a man who has had far too many run-ins with the law, might have to realize that these sorts of outbursts are not good for his future or for that of his children. But he’s a smart man and probably knows this. The only problem is applying this to real life.
On an even more personal level, one has to wonder about the wisdom of attacking another man over a woman’s behavior. If Tiny is sleeping with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (as T.I. proclaims), I’m not sure why he might feel that she is a possession that he can control by barking and biting any man within a 100 mile radius. I decided long ago that if a woman wants another man, then that might be my cue to convince myself to want another woman. My personal life was much more simplified after that.
But that’s not why we’re here, at least not entirely. In this episode of Financial Lovemaking, Ebony Magazine Relationship editor S. Tia Brown and I discuss the T.I./Floyd Mayweather Jr. incident and a few things we might learn. The simple consensus is that jealousy can be costly to the wealth you’re building in your life. It should be avoided at all costs.
In fact, when you’re done, please take a look at this list of ways to avoid jealousy. If it’s not contained, it can destroy you.
