For instance, his first album ‘The Block is Hot’ released in 1999 was certified double platinum as soon as it was released. Even his lowest selling album has been certified Gold by the RIAA. Many people know what Lil Wayne is right now but do not have a clue about his past. It is important for diehard fans to know what life has been before the success, and how he came into the lime light.
Life story
The amazing life story of one of the greatest rappers in the 21st century began on the September of 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana when he was born to Dwayne Michael Turner and Jacinda Carter. His mother was only 19 years old at the time, and his father fled soon after Lil Wayne was born. The rapper and his mother were left to take care of themselves in the crime-infested Hollygrove Division in New Orleans. Her mother later met Reginald McDonald, who became Lil Wayne‘s stepfather and eventually moved them out of that area.
Pursuing rap music
By the time he was a teenager; Lil Wayne had begun showing interest in rap music and was a huge fan of Cash Money Recording artists such as U.N.L.V and Pimp Daddy. He also become performing at block parties, where he caught the attention of Lil Slim, a rapper from Cash Money. Through the rapper, he met with two moguls from the label, Brian Williams and Ronald Williams. He eventually got a contract with the label after leaving his freestyles on the Brian’s answering machine repeatedly. He did this all at the young age of 11, becoming the youngest rapper of the label.
As soon as he was signed to the label, he had a new-death experience when he accidentally shot himself on the chest with he’s stepfather’s gun. He spent two weeks on life support but recovered and went back to business. He formed a rap group called The B.G’z, and released an album, which did not do as expected.
He dropped out of school, and had a daughter with his high school sweetheart. His stepfather died in 1997, and Lil Wayne resumed work with Brian Williams. He formed another group called the Hot Boys and released two albums, which earned them relative fame in the Midwestandthe south. They slip up in 2001 and Lil Wayne went solo. Ever since, he has been unstoppable with five studio albums, most of which have gone multiple-platinum.
